Why "The"?

edit

Is there any evidence that the official name of the corporation starts with "the"? --Alvestrand 07:01, 5 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Some digging around found that it files its SEC filings under this name. Case closed. --Alvestrand 07:04, 5 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Suggested move

edit

What do people think about moving the article to either "Hertz Global Holdings" or "Hertz (company)"? The former is based on 2012 SEC filings (such as http://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1364479/000144530512003378/hghq32012form10-q.htm ), while the latter is based on a thought of what people might be expecting to find as they will usually know the company as just "Hertz". --User:Ceyockey (talk to me) 12:25, 23 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Hertz svg.svg

edit

Image:Hertz svg.svg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Kind of biased

edit

The article reads like someone from Hertz's PR firm wrote it. Where's the objectivity? How come Hertz is #2 after being #1 for so long? How did Enterprise manage to kill Hertz in the US market? What were the consequences of Hertz's longtime lease-at-airport policy focus? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.89.192.125 (talk) 22:44, 7 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

To respond to this comment...This is Wikipedia, why don't YOU write said sections? Go for it! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.128.216.247 (talk) 17:39, 7 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Time Frame

edit

What years did the OJ Simpson commercial run? This may have been marketing then, but it's history now. It would be good to be able to know what era this refers to so that when young people give a blank stare, you know why. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 134.134.136.2 (talk) 18:06, 25 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Regarding the O.J. Simpson commercials, I edited "leapt over counters" to read "leapt over rows of departure lounge seats" because that is what he did in the commercials. Rainbow-five (talk) 01:20, 2 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Technology

edit

Hertz pioneered the advanced CRS (Customer Reservation System) concept with its #1 Club. It seems significant to have a section about the technological and marketing revolution that #1 Club, and the Gold Service, are worthy subjects. Hertz holds dozens of patents on #1 Club, Gold Service and other business processes. 173.128.216.247 (talk) 17:45, 7 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Merger with The Omnibus Corporation

edit

Considering that The Omnibus Corporation was the original name of the current iteration of the Hertz Corporation it is recommended that the two are merged in order to prevent redundancies and that The Omnibus Corporation redirects to this page. Shadowyguy (talk) 09:42, 27 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

Cleaning up key executives

edit

Leadership has changed hands a bit, and this section needed some cleaning up. I've updated/added as I could, and will be removing the following:

Mark Frissora, who this Wikipedia article previously stated left the company in 2014.

Elyse Douglas, who has also left the company, according to the previous version of this Wikipedia article.

Lois Boyd, who is retired her full-time position: http://newsroom.hertz.com/2014-06-02-Hertz-Announces-New-Chief-Executive-Officer-For-Hertz-Equipment-Rental-Corporation

I'm continuing to research Joseph F. Eckroth and Scott P. Sider -- I'm uncertain if their roles are still listed accurately and/or if they're still with Hertz. All other roles are verified and cited; please check my work (I'm still pretty new here). — Preceding unsigned comment added by MushuNeak (talkcontribs) 18:51, 14 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

Yup, just as I thought.

Joseph Eckroth is no longer with Hertz, who is now CEO of TE Connectivity:

http://investors.te.com/news-releases/press-release-details/2013/Joseph-F-Eckroth-Jr-Joins-TE-Connectivity-as-Chief-Information-Officer-Ronald-F-Vance-Retires/default.aspx

Neither is Scott Sider, who is now the CEO of Pep Boys:

http://www.bizjournals.com/philadelphia/news/2015/06/15/pep-boys-new-ceo-sider-odell-sweetwood.html

I'm removing both from the list. MushuNeak (talk) 17:36, 20 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

Hey I need to update key executives again. Eliana Zem and Jeff Foland are no longer on their board of directors. I dont know how I'm supposed to source this REMOVAL of info, its not like I can cite within the article to prove a REMOVAL — Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.227.77.46 (talk) 20:31, 23 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

Tesla

edit

In late Ocotber 2021, Hertz announced it would buy 100,000 all-electric Tesla autos (this is mentioned and ref'd on the Tesla page). Kdammers (talk) 16:32, 26 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
