Plot Summary

edit

Re: "The characterization is some of the finest in modern Japanese fiction—you feel as though you would immediately recognize the sisters if you happened to meet them in person." This is beautiful and fully accurate. The trouble is that it isn't encyclopaedic, and it lacks citation. I'm at a loss as to what to do here; advice, editors? 169.231.41.65 (talk) 07:21, 30 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Allied Occupation?

edit

In the second paragraph: "It depicts the decline of the family’s upper-middle-class, suburban lifestyle as the specter of World War II and Allied Occupation hangs over the novel." If the story takes place from 1936 to 1941, and the book was published in 1943, I'm not sure how it could have anything about the Allied occupation, which began in 1945.
