No, that is not the official account. This is the official account. The last mask is not being announced until September 22. We'll only add it if we have a proper WP:RS for it. Until then, it's left out. Magitroopa (talk) 16:30, 16 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

It is officially confirmed that the last costume is indeed the ladybug.

Revealing the unmasked singer before the smackdown

edit

Is it really necessary to reveal the unmasked singer before they lose the smackdown? I don't think so, since it's never really revealed until afterward. Plus it saves a lot of redundant wikilinking. - Jasonbres (talk) 03:02, 26 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

"Mask Us Anything" and "Mask-ish"

edit

For those who don't already know, "Mask Us Anything" was originally supposed to air tonight (October 30), if there was no game 7 for the MLB World Series. As of last night, there is a game 7, so "Mask Us Anything" was moved to next week, November 6. The episode originally scheduled to air November 6, "Mask-ish", will still be airing the same day, just an hour later. So now on November 6, "Mask Us Anything" will air 8-9pm ET, and "Mask-ish" will air 9-10pm ET. (Source for "Mask Us Anything" moving to November 6)

While they are now airing the same night back-to-back, they should remain separate as episodes 5 and 6 as they are different episodes. I would think it will be like the season 1 table where "Road to the Finals" and "Season Finale: The Final Mask is Lifted" both aired the same night back-to-back, but are separate episodes, so they are separate in the ratings table. Yes, "Return of the Masks: Groups A & B" is combined as one episode, but that is because even though it is technically two episodes (production codes MS-201 and MS-202), they are combined as one together, instead of back-to-back as "Return of the Masks: Groups A" and "Return of the Masks: Groups B".

For now, the ratings table should be left as is with "Mask Us Anything" and "Mask-ish" as episodes 5 and 6, but can be updated later if proper WP:RS comes that agrees for it as one 2-hour episode instead of two 1-hour episodes back-to-back. Safest bet will probably be seeing how they are listed on the official website at 10pm ET on November 6. Magitroopa (talk) 22:32, 30 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

Some more on this- Zap2it delisted the individual episodes of "Mask Us Anything" and "Mask-ish" and instead have it listed together as "Mask Us Anything; Mask-ish"- same thing is on season 1 regarding the last two episodes, with "Road to the Finals" and "Season Finale: The Final Mask Is Lifted" listed separately, but another listing for "Road to the Finals; Season Finale: The Final Mask Is Lifted" since they aired back-to-back on February 27. So yes, the ratings table here should stay the way it is with the episodes separate. Magitroopa (talk) 15:05, 31 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
Is a press release from Fox not a reliable source? They specifically call it "an all-new, special two-hour episode" meaning it's one episode that's two hours. If Fox wanted to refer to these two hours as two separate episodes, they would have issued two separate press releases—but they didn't (the individual ones were deleted, making them invalid. They could have just issued a new one for "Mask Us Anything" but they didn't, which is significant). If we refer to them separately, the ratings table would be incorrect, as there are in fact no (longer any) episodes titled "Mask Us Anything" or "Masked-ish". Fox themselves has titled the November 6 episode "Mask Us Anything / Mask-ish" and we should go by what they say. It doesn't matter what Zap2It titles the episodes, it matters what Fox—the official source—titles them.
Also, the reason "Road to the Finals" and "Season Finale" are separated in season one's ratings table is because they're actually two separate episodes—one was a special and the other was an actual competition hour. There was a significant difference between the two in format (and hence, in each's ratings). This is far from the case in the current situation. Heartfox (talk) 21:14, 31 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
The only reason these are airing back-to-back at all is due to the World Series. Had there been no Game 7, one would've aired last night and the other next week. You also contradict yourself quite a bit in that, saying, "a press release from Fox not a reliable source?" and then later saying, "It doesn't matter what Zap2It titles the episodes, it matters what Fox—the official source—titles them." - Both Futon Critic and Zap2it are indeed reliable sources. Also, that is not a press release, these are the press releases. I do see now there is a press release put out, but these are still two separate episodes, not like the premiere where it was "Groups A & B" with 201 and 202 as the production code, this is "Mask Us Anything/Mask-ish"- distinctively separating the two episode titles with the "/".
A similar scenario happened with season 10 of MasterChef, where Futon Critic lists it as "The Finale - Pt. 1 / The Finale - Pt. 2". The episode table separates them appropriately, as they are both separate on the official FOX site. Even that, though, is referred to as an, "ALL-NEW, TWO-HOUR SEASON FINALE" (Showbuzzdaily also lists them as separate episodes Archived 2019-09-20 at the Wayback Machine at 8pm and 9pm). I'd say keep them separate for now, as sources show they were indeed separate episodes at some point, and it can be fixed on November 6 when we see how FOX lists the episodes on their official site (as well as how it is listed in the ratings). Magitroopa (talk) 21:40, 31 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
Update to this- the FOX website is now listing the episode(s) with the second hour in progress... looks like the episodes are airing as a two-hour episode, but they are now both listed on the FOX website, as "S2 E5 Mask Us Anything" and "S2 E6 Mask-ish"- so yes, they should be listed separately in the ratings table. Magitroopa (talk) 02:16, 7 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
And we now have TV by the Numbers listing it as two separate episodes as well at 8pm and 9pm here Archived 2019-11-07 at the Wayback Machine. So yes, they stay separate in the table. Magitroopa (talk) 19:48, 7 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

Ratings

edit

@Brianis19: Please go by the sources correctly. As stated by the original article from earlier today, the average for 8-10pm is the one you are getting from here Archived 2019-11-07 at the Wayback Machine, the one listed in my comment above is the one that should be used. Even though it is not the 'final ratings' article, it still equates correctly to the average of 7.10 in the 'final ratings' article. See Game Shakers S3 for example- "Bug Tussle" and "Why Tonya?" aired the same night back-to-back, but have their separate ratings listed, not the combined average (which would then be 0.617). As shown by FOX, it may have been advertised as a two-hour episode, but is really two back-to-back episodes, being 5 and 6. Listing the 7.10 average for both episodes is incorrect, as they both did not get 7.10 each. The first hour got 6.97 and the second hour got 7.22. Magitroopa (talk) 07:50, 8 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

@Magitroopa: That's not how ratings work. You're never supposed to use non-final ratings. The average for the two-hour period is 7.10 million according to the final ratings by TVByTheNumbers, ShowBuzzDaily, SpottedRatings, etc. I have yet to see an article with final ratings listed separately for both episodes. The Game Shakers example you gave is like that because ShowBuzzDaily reported the numbers separately. ShowBuzzDaily has NOT done that for "Masked-ish" and "Mask Us Anything" Archived 2020-11-30 at the Wayback Machine. We don't know if the fast national viewership of 6.97 and 7.22 changed for the finals (it likely did) but still equated to a 7.10 million average. Unless you provide a source for the two hour final numbers listed separately, we must use the 7.10 million for both. We CANNOT use non-final ratings. Please revert to @Brianis19:'s edit. Heartfox (talk) 14:56, 8 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Heartfox: Deadline, TheWrap, and The Hollywood Reporter all list them as separate hours as well, sourcing from Nielsen. 7.10 for both episodes separate is simply incorrect. If the table were listing it as "Mask Us Anything/Mask-ish" together as one episode, then yes, the 7.10 average would be accurate to use (and maybe a note on how much each hour got individually). However, many sources, including FOX's own website lists them separately as episodes 5 and 6 respectively, which is why they are separate in the ratings table (which is more elaborated in my above messages). Magitroopa (talk) 15:20, 8 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Magitroopa: The articles you listed only contain "fast national" ratings. In all Wikipedia articles, "final ratings" or "finals" are used, which are released around 4 p.m. ET, not 11 a.m. like the ones you listed. Unless you add an alternative source for the final numbers (TVByTheNumbers and ShowBuzzDaily both combine them in the final ratings), we have to list it as 7.10 million for both, as with the premiere of Roseanne (season 10), for example. Season 3

edit

They already announced at least four contestants competing on the next season, including a Mouse, a Robot, a Banana, and what appears to be a female version of the Monster. So is that enough to constitute an article for season three or should we wait for more contestants? - Jasonbres (talk) 04:35, 19 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

Footnotes 7 and 8

edit

Footnote 8 links to a YouTube video that’s private. Since the video is not accessible, this Link should be removed.

Footnote 7 supports many of the statements in the associated paragraph except for “31 Billboard #1 hits.” There is no support for that statement. It should be supported or removed. Johncarlson44 (talk) 01:18, 17 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

I'll see what I can find for that YouTube source (#8)... IIRC, I believe that source was the one supporting the Billboard hits info. Thank you for pointing out that it's private, though (I wish they didn't do that...) Magitroopa (talk) 01:37, 17 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
I agree! I don’t like Private videos either. Johncarlson44 (talk) 02:46, 17 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
Alright, I've just replaced the YouTube source with this, so should be good now. Magitroopa (talk) 05:44, 17 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
