Dreary Erie, the Mistake on the Lake

edit

There are, in fact, reliable sources verifying that Erie, PA is referred to as "The Mistake on the Lake".

  1. ErieReader.com (local media) -- "We complain about the weather. Or that there’s no culture here. Or that Erie’s just plain ugly. The mistake on the lake. Dreary Erie."
  2. SaltMagazine.com (non-local media) -- "Originally from Erie, Pennsylvania — Dreary Erie, says Ron, the Mistake on the Lake — his nursing career led him to Kentucky..."
  3. Mercyhurst University IIS (Erie, PA, univ.) -- "No, for us it is "dreary Erie" or "the mistake on the lake." We don't talk, much less brag, about how we've changed and adapted to a difficult and complex world..."

There are also plenty of user-generated references, from forums and the like, indicating readers very well may be looking for Erie, PA, when using the search term "Mistake on the Lake". Levdr1lp / talk 19:43, 17 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

If this is a significant usage, then please add it to the Erie, PA article. Unless the linked article supports the usage, there is no reason to add entry to the disambiguation page (i.e., a disambiguation page is not an article, does not contain references and cannot assert claims that are not supported by the linked article). olderwiser 00:59, 18 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
Got it. Levdr1lp / talk 01:36, 18 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
Sources sold me. If it's on Erie's page, it should be here too EvergreenFir (talk) 04:55, 18 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
I've added these sources to the Erie page. Whether they ultimately end up staying there is another matter. I wouldn't be surprised if a whole new discussion crops up at that article's talk page. Levdr1lp / talk 04:59, 18 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
It's been well over a week since I added the above info and sources to the Erie, PA, article, and no one has attempted to remove or modify my addition. As such, I am restoring the Erie link to this disambiguation page. Levdr1lp / talk 18:26, 27 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
