Please review recent changes
editHello, I've been substantially improving the article over the past few days, but since this is paid editing I do not want to remove the {{COI}} flag on top of the article myself. Hence this call for review (and, if needed, input on what to change/improve).
In a nutshell:
- Added references to all statements;
- Added a picture from the original memorandum of association of 1805 (the full thing is on Commons), courtesy of the family archives;
- Updated the logo (it's not obvious but it is different);
- Created a new template:infobox bank that now automatically incorporates wikidata elements and bank-specific ones (such as credit rating and Basel III asset ratio). The box is largely based on infobox company (which is protected): I will finish updating its documentation in the next few days;
- Also created the Henokiens article, which has apparently now become a category.

- well I just added COI to article. That's the only way that I know-of to alert readers and editors to paid-edits. I don't know why it would need to be removed?TeeVeeed (talk) 13:36, 11 May 2016 (UTC)
- Because it is a call for review, not meant to be a permanent mark? See for instance articles edited by user:WWB Too. Pplc (talk) 14:29, 11 May 2016 (UTC)

- Well, I'm not so sure that the template needs to ever be removed unless multiple edits that are not COI are made? TY for referring me to the other user, but so far I do not see where this exact issue has been discussed. Again- I am just a little confused about your use of "review", and what that all means with the banner being there or not. Lets let this stay open a bit on the talk page please, or if there is something that clearly explains why the banner should be removed?TeeVeeed (talk) 15:58, 11 May 2016 (UTC)
- OK-so I changed the banner to connected contributor paid. What I need is something that says that banners must be removed after review if there is anything that says that please. Otherwise, why should it not stay forever?TeeVeeed (talk) 16:05, 11 May 2016 (UTC)

Hi there, user:TeeVeeed recently added the {{COI}} tag to the top of the article. The article had already been reviewed and I had made the CoI declaration back when I improved it (see above), but we've discussed the matter and agreed that it would be best to ask a third party for removal. Thanks! Pplc (talk) 06:43, 13 May 2016 (UTC)
- Well, it's a good thing you asked, because I don't agree that the COI tag should be removed. The tag warns that the article may need cleanup to comply with WP:NPOV. This is definitely still applicable. From reading the article, I see phrases that are frequently used in press releases, but are not appropriate for an encyclopedia. These promotional terms include phrases such as "leading" and "premier". The article also seems slanted in favor of the bank. It reports many positive facts: the philanthropic work, the credit ratings, the environmental efforts. However, I see very little negative coverage. There is a brief mention of the DOJ investigation, but no explanation of what happened. According to the New York Times, Pictet released its financial results for the first time in 209 years due to restructuring. It not necessary (nor encouraged) to post every last negative experience a company has gone through: WP:UNDUE WEIGHT would bar such edits. However, the NYTimes article was on the first page of my Google search results, so I am surprised that it was not mentioned in the article. This page still needs some work before the maintenance tags can be removed. Altamel (talk) 07:12, 13 May 2016 (UTC)
- Ok, I see your point, thank you very much. I'll bring in a few more references and updates (it's been nearly a year after all) which I'll post here for review. As for the NYT article, the restructuring they mentioned is the change in corporate structure (see 4th paragraph of the "history" section; I am not sure that the fact they posted their results is super relevant though, but I'll mention it). The DoJ investigation is still ungoing afaik. Thanks for the feedback and pointers, Pplc (talk) 08:07, 13 May 2016 (UTC)

Hello, following the above remarks, could we please simplify the sections below (and then remove the {{COI}} tag)? Thanks, Pplc (talk) 10:02, 23 May 2016 (UTC)
Lead
editCan we simplify the whole thing to:
Pictet is a private bank and asset manager based in Geneva, Switzerland, since 1805. It provides services in wealth management, asset management and asset servicing to private clients and institutions around the world.
Founded in Geneva at the beginning of the 19th century, Pictet has operated as a partnership throughout its history. Over the past 210 years, there have been only 41 partners, each with an average tenure of more than 21 years[1]. Today, it is organised as a corporate partnership of seven owner managers who are responsible for the entire business of the Group. Since its foundation, all of its growth has been achieved without making acquisitions or floating on a stock exchange.
The Pictet Group employs more than 3,700 people, including 900 investment managers.[2]It has a global network of 26 offices in financial services centres, including registered banks in Geneva, Luxemburg, Nassau, Hong Kong and Singapore. Pictet does not engage in investment banking, nor does it extend commercial loans.
According to the latest Annual Report, the Group had 437 CHF Bn of assets under management, with its total capital ratio significantly exceeding the levels demanded by Swiss regulators.[3]
- ->Removed some mentions ("leading", "premier", etc.), as well as ratings and outdated statement. Updated/added references.
History
editsmall clarification (as requested above):
- "In 2014, Pictet changed its legal structure from a simple partnership to become a corporate partnership (société en commandite par actions) which acts as a holding company for the Group’s activities around the world"
to
- "In 2014, Pictet changed its legal structure from a simple partnership to become a corporate partnership (société en commandite par actions) which acts as a holding company for the Group’s activities around the world. This change led it to publish its annual results for the first time in 209 years.[4]
Wealth management
editAdd some more info (+ref) for the very last sentence:
- On November 26, 2012, it was reported that Pictet's wealth management unit was the target of a United States Department of Justice probe along with 11 other Swiss financial firms.[5] Contrary to others, the Group indicated that it would not book any provisions in its 2015 accounts and that its current capital reserves were large enough to cover any potential fine.[6]
Corporate social responsibility
editShorten
- The Pictet Group's Charitable Foundation was created in 2009 to formalise the charitable and philanthropic work supported by Pictet’s partners. Its primary purpose is to help finance charitable organisations and public-interest projects in Switzerland and abroad. The Foundation lends its support to around 200 projects a year in the fields of health, social causes, arts and culture, and the environment.
- In 2008, Pictet launched the Prix Pictet, the world's first photographic prize dedicated to sustainable development. Each year, nominated photographers are invited to submit a series of pictures on a chosen theme such as Consumption or Earth[7]. The winner is selected by an independent jury.[8]
- Since 2007, the Pictet Group has published an annual carbon footprint statement using a method that complies with ISO 14064-1, certified by the Swiss Association for Quality and Management Systems. The Group has a target of reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 40% per employee by 2020.[9]
with
- In 2008, Pictet launched the Prix Pictet, which honors work that promotes discussion of social issues[10]. Each year, nominated photographers are invited to submit a series of pictures on a chosen theme such as "Earth" (2009)[11] or "Disorder" (2015). The winner is selected by an independent jury presided by Kofi Annan.[12]
-> No sources other than internal for the Foundation and Carbon footprint thing. Added more references for the Prix Pictet. Come to think of it the section could directly be renamed "Prix Pictet".

Updated figures
editThe article gives Pictet's assets and staff in 2017 but according to Pictet's website (www.group.pictet/about) their assets have nearly doubled. Not sure how it works as a source and it doesn't have an immediate figure for asset managers so I'm going to leave it for someone else to implement. --148.64.27.12 (talk) 10:52, 3 May 2019 (UTC)
