Building the article

edit

Hi, It's good to see the The Steve Biko Foundation article on WP. @Biko Legacy, you might want to have a look at an example of how to structure an article and what a great article looks like; they flag up some key factors, and pitfalls to avoid, in building the article - these apply to all articles on WP, not just this one. Although they are an ideal to aim for, rather than the achievement to reach for today, they give a sense of the ethos behind Wikipedia as an encyclopaedia and learning resource foremost.

The article might feature sections including:

  • Lead (main, objectively notable points about the Foundation - ie why it should be featured in an encyclopaedia
  • History / background of the organisation Founding / development / crises / notable events - with citations outlining who started, why, why and how - see WP:SOAP and WP:Flea
  • Key historical figures and their role s
  • Past Impact / legacy
  • References
  • Further reading
  • External links
Perhaps have a look at these featured articles on The Supremes, Bengali Language Movement and Brownsea Island Scout camp and see how they have structured them.

I hope this helps. Best wishes Spanglej (talk) 19:14, 7 September 2010 (UTC)Reply
