Talk:The Walking Dead: Season Two
Merge
edit- Oppose Mind you, if this was last year after Season Two was just announced, I would be all for the merge. But given that the game is soon to be released, and on release it would have its own article (new plot, etc.), there's no reason to merge now. --MASEM (t) 18:53, 9 September 2013 (UTC)

- Disregard merger. I was under the mistaken impression the article was about the second episode of the first Walking Dead video game. Neptune's Trident (talk) 02:27, 10 September 2013 (UTC)
- You'd definitely be right to request the merge if that was the case - these individual episodes are better treated as part of the whole (as we had figured out from past Telltale games like the Sam and Max seasons). As you figured , this is a separate product, so the standalone is proper. --MASEM (t) 02:58, 10 September 2013 (UTC)
Move
editThis article needs moving to a more appropriate name, it's needlessly confusing in relation to the 2nd season of the TV show which would have priority anyway. The names are exactly the same barring the parentheses and will lead to misdirection.Darkwarriorblake (talk) 23:18, 10 February 2013 (UTC)
- I'd almost argue to merge this to the first game until such a case that we get a title to build on. --MASEM (t) 23:57, 10 February 2013 (UTC)
- That too, it doesn't seem to be an official title. Darkwarriorblake (talk) 07:53, 11 February 2013 (UTC)
- You know, in fact, this article says so little, that I'm going to be BOLD and do that redirect right now. This allows us to determine, once it is announced, what best to name the ultimate article that will contain the Season 2 details (though this should always remain as a redirect otherwise if it is not used). --MASEM (t) 14:49, 11 February 2013 (UTC)
- That too, it doesn't seem to be an official title. Darkwarriorblake (talk) 07:53, 11 February 2013 (UTC)
As JenniBees has reverted the redirect, I will explain the reasoning here. Unlike, say, Fables or DF Adventure, this is a sequel to an existing game where there is already room for discussion about the sequel in context. In constrast, the Fables and DF ADventure do not necessarily have good existing targets (the Fables game could be on the comic page, but not really, while DF Adventure could only go onto Double Fine's page, and that's already large. On the naming aspect, WP:HAMMER comes into play -but note that its an essay. Yes, we know DF adventure's title will change on its final release but there's a plethera of sourcing about it, so we have more that just an "its in progress" thing. In the case of the 2nd season here of TWD, we don't know how they plan to call it and no idea of release, just that its in the works. Thus until such a time more can be gardenered, it should be kept at the first series article, particularly as there's more information there already than here. --MASEM (t) 21:21, 13 February 2013 (UTC)
- Agreed, there are like two lines of actual information in the article and less than in the subsection of the original game, it doesn't need an article at the moment, but the title still needs changing. The Walking Dead (upcoming Telltale Games video game) or something, it is incredibly hard to disambiguate it without a release year.Darkwarriorblake (talk) 01:40, 16 February 2013 (UTC)
- While moving it, why didn't you add on (video game)? There is a tv season of the same name. Darkwarriorblake (talk) 18:32, 30 October 2013 (UTC)
- There's no conflict there. TV seasons add parenthetical notation so S2 of the show is at The Walking Dead (season 2), so there's no name conflict. We still need the hat for those searching on the TV show and landing here instead, but its not necessary here. --MASEM (t) 19:13, 30 October 2013 (UTC)
- So instead of making sure that someone typing "The Walking Dead Season 2" into the search goes to exactly where they want to go, we instead will lead them to the tv series (clarified by the disambiguator of "Season 2"), so they can then find their way here? I think the DAB rules are pretty clear here. The Walking Dead Season 2 and The Walking Dea (Season 2) are not in any way clearly not the same thing. Darkwarriorblake (talk) 19:38, 30 October 2013 (UTC)
- Which is why we have the hat note on both pages to point to the other. Arguably, neither topic is more primary than the other (the TV show and game are both equally notable). This is fine under normal dab naming rules. --MASEM (t) 20:04, 30 October 2013 (UTC)

Release date
editGame will be released on December 17th 2013 (at least on Steam platform - see http://store.steampowered.com/app/261030/). The article mention it as being scheduled for December 18th... 193.111.70.3 (talk) 16:46, 16 December 2013 (UTC)
- The only confirmed date is XBLA. TTG has not given out any other official dates, and we can't use the Steam store page, as that is, by being a vendor, necesssarily an unreliable source. --MASEM (t) 17:16, 16 December 2013 (UTC)
- XBLA? Anyway, also the joystiq.com article linked to the release date in references [2] mentions 17th December, so where did 18th comes from? Bah, whatever... 94.34.153.20 (talk) 19:35, 16 December 2013 (UTC)
- Major Nelson announced the XBLA version as the 18th. That's the only "announced" date. Everyone else is guessing the 17th for Steam and PSN because that is the date in the store pages, which are not reliable (even if they prove correct). TTG has not yet officially announced any release dates themselves, and even as of yesterday, are saying "really soon now" in their promo push. Is it likely tomorrow? Yes, but we can't source that. --MASEM (t) 19:46, 16 December 2013 (UTC)

Spoilers
edit"the fate of Kenny, a non-player character that appeared to die during the last act" I've just come on here to check the release date for episode two and mistakenly read this. It's an admittedly minor spoiler but if it's true it robs of a major reveal in the story that would have been very shocking. I'm not suggesting that it should be removed full stop but perhaps it could be moved out of the very first paragraph so that it's not so easily stumbled upon. I've never edited a wikipedia article before and I would have no idea where to start so this is really more of a suggestion. Hopefully someone else agrees with me and can take action. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.146.219.184 (talk) 11:15, 27 December 2013 (UTC)
- We don't use spolier warnings or consider this type of spolier aspect. Additionally given this is a sequel it is reasonable to assume the player had finished the first game if they are looking for details on the second.--MASEM (t) 14:43, 27 December 2013 (UTC)
Episode Merge
editThe following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on the appropriate discussion page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.
The separate episode articles are unnecessary, in part they duplicate the plot, and the reception can be grouped into this article, and the only thing really not covered between the cast list which is something we can make up on this article here as well. Further, and more importantly, the episodes are not standalone products. Unlike earlier games, you cannot buy one episode of TWD, you buy the season. As such, they should not be separate articles. --MASEM (t) 15:16, 22 July 2014 (UTC)
- Merge These are overkill. The cast list breaks WP:VG guidelines btw. - X201 (talk) 08:18, 25 July 2014 (UTC)
- Merge. Completely agree, this is overkill. Freikorp (talk) 13:57, 27 August 2014 (UTC)
- Dont Merge the same can be said of the tv seires, the tv series episodes are sold in a set as well and are not standalone products. (talk) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.25.246.47 (talk) 04:15, 2 September 2014 (UTC)
- you can buy individual episodes digitally. Further, tv episodes are considered on a per-episode basis for things like awards, while for video games, it will be the complete 5 episode package here. --MASEM (t) 04:19, 2 September 2014 (UTC)
- Merge. Yes, I agree, the episodes should be merged to the main article, as it is more fitting giving the fact that this season comes in a full package. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sanvalentine23 (talk • contribs) 14:44, 24 October 2014 (UTC)
- Merge - I think that they all should be merged together as well. Think there's a consensus on this discussion, Masem. GamerPro64 00:00, 28 October 2014 (UTC)
