editPer Wikipedia:Quotations "quoting a brief excerpt from an original source can sometimes explain things better" (emphasis added)
The length of the quotes used in this article were way out of line with accepted practice.--S Philbrick(Talk) 13:55, 17 August 2017 (UTC)
- I undid this as it says clearly in the AfD banner that this "article must not be blanked"... If you have something to say use the AfD talk page rather than deleting the whole page, cheers. Gestcom (talk) 14:18, 17 August 2017 (UTC)Gestcom
- It wasn't blanked. I understand you are new, but blancked means to remove all content, not simply a lot of it.--S Philbrick(Talk) 17:35, 17 August 2017 (UTC)
- Hi sphilbrick, the "quotes" you removed are not normal quotes. They are audio transcripts. Perhaps you could read the introduction as well. I am very passionate about this article and am keen to improve it with your help. I'd like to point out that, in accepted practice, this should have been discussed on this page prior to any mass deletion. I am going to restore the page to its normal state at 17:00 (UTC) unless you can say otherwise.Thank you. Gestcom (talk) 16:18, 17 August 2017 (UTC)Gestcom
- I know they are transcripts, I listened to make sure the material in quotes matched the audio. That makes it a copyright violation, unless the material was properly licensed and I missed the license.
- I think it is ironic that the website has a banner saying "support free web content" yet there is no indication on the page that it is licensed freely.
- On a more positive note this page suggest they may be open to providing an acceptable license so you might pursue that. However, please note that the repository for the material if they agree to an acceptable license is probably Wikisource not Wikipedia. If you can arrange for a free license for the transcripts and upload them to Wikisource , you can then make reference to them in Wikipedia but only with short excerpts.--S Philbrick(Talk) 17:35, 17 August 2017 (UTC)
@Gestcom: You may well be passionate about this article but passion doesn't give you permission to violate policy. My removal of copyrighted works is not vandalism. In contrast your reversion of my removal is a violation of policy. I'll cut you some slack because you are new, but if you continue to revert you are likely to get blocked. Please read my comments above where I propose a solution.--S Philbrick(Talk) 17:40, 17 August 2017 (UTC)
This page is less complete than the Bibliography section of the main Alan Watts page. Suggest improvement (even just by copy-pasta from the main article), or deletion. (P.S. finding citable references to Watts' audio lectures with details like year, location, etc. anywhere on the internet is incredibly difficult. Even the main Alan Watts Wikipedia page is lacking detail and seems to be missing lectures that exist.) lunaverse (talk) 20:27, 21 October 2021 (UTC)

Move discussion in progress
editThere is a move discussion in progress on Talk:List of Ellen G. White writings which affects this page. Please participate on that page and not in this talk page section. Thank you. —RMCD bot 02:46, 22 October 2022 (UTC)
