Edinburgh Zoo
editI realise that there is an active redirect about Tian Tian. I am not sure how to change it so that it goes to the new article. Can someone advise? Thanks. Also I am going to add an image soon for this new article. ChrCc (talk) 20:40, 12 August 2014 (UTC)
- Can I also ask advice about the title of this article? It is now Tián Tián because I couldn't get around the redirect of Tian Tian but I'd prefer to have the version without the accent as I think it's easier to find.
Thanks for any suggestion on this matter! ChrCc (talk) 20:54, 12 August 2014 (UTC)
- I've fixed the redirect. As the American panda Tiān Tiān already occupies the article Tian Tian, I think that naming this article as Tián Tián is OK, especially as Tian Tian (Edinburgh Zoo) redirects here, so users should be able to find the article without too much trouble. The result of the move request was: move the page to Tian Tian (female giant panda), per the discussion below. Dekimasuよ! 19:39, 12 October 2014 (UTC)
Tián Tián → Tian Tian (giant panda, born 2003) – Or something, we shouldn't use pinyin tone diacritics in titles just to disambiguate. None of the references uses "Tián Tián". Timmyshin (talk) 13:35, 25 September 2014 (UTC)
- Comment - move to Tian Tian (Edinburgh Zoo) per ChrCc and User:BabelStone on the existing redirect and Tian Tian to Tian Tian (National Zoo, Washington D.C.). or perhaps simpler choice Tian Tian (male panda) and Tian Tian (female panda). Note that the existence of Tian Tian (chess player) and Sun Tiantian (tennis player) means a FOURDAB needs to created. In ictu oculi (talk) 14:33, 25 September 2014 (UTC)
- What evidence is there that "Sun Tiantian" is ever referred to as just "Tian Tian"?. The second proposal is definitely not OK, since there is at least 1 female panda "Tian Tian" http://www.giantpandazoo.com/panda/history/pandas-in-germany/zoo-berlin/giant-pandas-in-berlin/ who died in 1984 in Berlin Zoo.] Timmyshin (talk) 15:21, 25 September 2014 (UTC)
- Seriously. In ictu oculi (talk) 15:30, 25 September 2014 (UTC)
- NOTE see also Talk:Tian_Tian#Requested_move also open now -- 65.94.171.225 (talk) 16:05, 25 September 2014 (UTC)
- Rename per nom, or Tian Tian (female giant panda); non-accented choices good per WP:PINYIN avoid diacritics in personal names. Now this is a panda and not a person, so it isn't exactly the same thing, but I think it's applicable. -- 65.94.171.225 (talk) 06:13, 26 September 2014 (UTC)
- Handle consistently: Move Tian Tian to Tian Tian (male giant panda), and Tián Tián to Tian Tian (female giant panda). — SMcCandlish ☺ ☏ ¢ ≽ʌⱷ҅ᴥⱷʌ≼ 09:22, 3 October 2014 (UTC)
- Support per nom. Probably should go to "(female giant panda)", but I don't particularly care. —innotata 21:50, 4 October 2014 (UTC)
