Sources
edit- Foamspring appears to be a self-published, and thus is not reliable--for example, there's no proof that the person commenting is the subject. YouTube is even worse; on the one hand, it's unreliable since anyone can post anything without; on the other, the problem is that most videos don't have proof that they are being posted by the copyright holder. This means we can't link to them (even in External Links), because of worries about being caught up in copyright infringement.
- If you want to add this info, you will need reliable secondary sources (magazine/television interviews, or publications on notable and reliable websites). Qwyrxian (talk) 12:45, 27 June 2010 (UTC)
- I understand that Wikipedia does not want to get in trouble with copyright with YouTube. That's understandable. However, Twitter accounts though, are often used as sources across Wikipedia. Why are those sources being removed with that information? Especially when it is coming from a Twitter Verified account, meaning that this information is coming from the person in subject? Stunners (talk) 12:52, 27 June 2010 (UTC)
- Also, if there is a link from the verified Twitter account to her Formspring page, confirming that it is indeed hers, does that make it reliable? Stunners (talk) 12:53, 27 June 2010 (UTC)
- I've checked more closely. Per WP:SELFPUB, it looks like the Twitter info is reliable. Here's the details:
Self-published or questionable sources may be used as sources of information about themselves, especially in articles about themselves, without the requirement that they be published experts in the field, so long as:
- the material is not unduly self-serving;
- it does not involve claims about third parties (such as people, organizations, or entities);
- it does not involve claims about events not directly related to the subject;
- there is no reasonable doubt as to its authenticity;
- the article is not based primarily on such sources.
- Twitter's verified accounts appear to be fairly safe, although I'm not 100% certain. If I have time, I will check into it later; for now, that info can stay. I'm very uncomfortable with the idea of "transferring" that authenticity to a third site; however, if any editor with more experience dealing with Twitter and/or Foamspring tells me otherwise, that info could come in. In any event, I don't think that it will hurt the article to leave the info from Foamspring out for now. Remember, on a WP:BLP, we have to be extra careful to get everything right.
- As a final note, I just now noticed that your username is the same as the band in which the subject appears. If you are directly involved with the subject or her band (either as the subject herself or as a business associate), please read up on Conflict of Interest. It's okay to edit pages you are personally involved in, but you need to be extra careful to make sure that all of your edits are neutral and well-sourced. Happy editing, and, if I can, I'll check back in a few more days with anything I find out about using verified Twitter as a source. Removed Formspring and Youtube Sources
editI removed the sources from YouTube and Formspring, but I kept the sources from Twitter, seeing as the account is Verified by Twitter, meaning that the account is in fact, Tinashe Kachingwe's real twitter and everything tweeted from the page, is from her. Stunners (talk) 13:01, 27 June 2010 (UTC)
Caucasian in not a nationality
editCaucasian is not a nationality and, because the Caucasus region spans several countries, it is not clear what country it refers to. I suggest that this is either corrected and referenced or that the nationalities of the parents are removed entirely. --DanielRigal (talk) 10:34, 11 September 2011 (UTC)
- Added new sources, and will continue to add them, not directly associated with the artist, as well as fixed the parent's race issue. Stunners (talk) 10:54, 11 September 2011 (UTC)
Requested move

The result of the move request was: moved to Tinashe. Favonian (talk) 10:28, 18 September 2011 (UTC)
Tinashe (singer) → Tinashe – The British male singer, Tinashé formally occupied the page Tinashe but has since been moved to a page which uses the correct spelling. The American female singer Tinashe currently sits on Tinashe (singer). She has a larger page, more sources, more information, and I request that she be moved the to correct spelling of her name, the page Tinashe while keeping the note at the top, also noting the male singer's new, correct page. Stunners (talk) 10:36, 11 September 2011 (UTC)
- Support, is also the primary topic in addition to being a partial title match. Marcus Qwertyus 00:38, 17 September 2011 (UTC)

Filmography
editWhat are the problems with the filmography section? It was citied for cleanup, yet given no reason on the talk page. I'd be happy to help, but I'm not sure what needs improving. Stunners (talk) 20:21, 13 September 2011 (UTC)
Sources Issue
editIf you're going to cite this article with problems with sourcing, please leave a note on the talk page with what issues you have with it. Sources are all verifiable sources, and reliable (all 44 of them), I made sure of that. If there is an issue, please explain SPECIFICALLY which sources you believe are not reliable. Thank you. Stunners (talk) 10:52, 19 November 2011 (UTC)
- Only six or seven sources cited are the subject's twitter account, and even those are kind of "self-serving" and used to puff things up: "clarified on Twitter that 'Chainless' was a 'fun, character [song], dedicated to the west'" for example. Her website (possibliy a primary source?) is cited several times (although the link doesnt even lead to what's being cited), and with BLP articles on relatively unknown subjects should focus on higher quality, secondary sources that include material only relevant to the subject's notability. Apart from one reference to an MTV article on her "buzz", the rest are mostly amateur blogs. Dan56 (talk) 23:21, 26 December 2012 (UTC)

Nightride
editIs this a studio album or a mixtape? I'm really confused. Bowling is life (talk) 17:59, 17 November 2018 (UTC)
Genres in infobox
editBowling is life These sources don't support the previous version of genres for the artist [emphasis is mine in the following]:
- Fuse describes the "subtle, R&B-pop groove" of a song and mentions "her electro-pop sensibilities". It is not categorizing her/her overall music under a genre, particularly for encyclopedic purposes.
- Complex only says: "Tinashe may be a rising pop star", "The chief goal is massive pop success", "become a burgeoning pop star".
- LA Times states "Tinashe's journey from underground mix tapes to commercial pop artist has been a bumpy one, but the alternative-R&B singer". This describes her as an alt-R&B singer, however it's only one source given and the subgenera is nevertheless, seemingly outweighed by multiple sources classifying her as R&B and pop. Moreover, the noted parameter guidelines recommends to "Aim for generality and use two to four genres": Template:Infobox_musical_artist/doc#genre. Lapadite (talk) 02:35, 25 January 2019 (UTC)
- R&B and Pop should remain as the two genres being used for the infobox. While there are songs Tinashe explored different genres such as electro-pop and hip hop, but R&B and Pop are an umbrella term for these genres, and I don't see any reason to include any new genres, R&B and Pop are just enough to accurately describe her music genre.MunRis • †alk 17:53, 25 January 2019 (UTC)
- @Lapadite77: and @MunRis: - Ok, I see why you removed electropop but we should try to find more sources for alt-R&B. Yeah, sure it's a subgenre, but parameter guidelines recommend two to four genres. We can add alt-R&B and still remain genral and not too redundant. Bowling is life (talk) 05:17, 29 January 2019 (UTC)
- @Bowling is life: It's either R&B or alternative R&B for the infobox. In my cursory search, I found that the majority of sources describe her music as R&B and pop. If you find several reliable sources categorizing her music (not a song or album) as alternative R&B then I've no problem with its inclusion in the infobox alongside pop. Lapadite (talk) 05:24, 29 January 2019 (UTC)
- @Lapadite77: Here are two sources I found for alt-R&B:
- NME "Alternative R&B newcomer Tinashe..."
- Sinuous Magazine "Ahead of the release of her studio debut Aquarius on October 7th, rising alternative-R&B star Tinashe..."
If more sources are needed I can always find more. Bowling is life (talk) 05:39, 29 January 2019 (UTC)
@Bowling is life: I change my mind, but instead of leaving R&B as is, replace it with Alternative R&B. Seeing that The Guardian calls Nightride as "alt-R&B", while Billboard describes her entire mixtape discography as alt-R&B, and her studio albums being describes as either Alternative R&B, R&B, or both. Having "Alternative R&B" take "R&B"'s place won't be much of an issue, since it's still describing her as R&B, while including sources which describe her as Alternative R&B. MunRis • †alk 17:14, 29 January 2019 (UTC)
- @MunRis: I think we should just include both since both have a good amount of support from sources. Bowling is life (talk) 04:55, 30 January 2019 (UTC)
- @Bowling is life: I added Alternative R&B using sources from this discussion to include in the infobox, since this discussion seems to form a resolution to add said genre.MunRis • †alk 19:01, 30 January 2019 (UTC)
Add images to 2015-17 and 2017-Present
editSeeing there is an image for her time in the Stunners and during her Aquarius period, it would be appreciated if someone added at least one image for her Nightride/Joyride and Nashe time periods. MunRis • †alk 03:53, 7 February 2019 (UTC)

Picture used
editI changed the picture on the page as the one being used right now is not a good representation of what she looks like, but someone keeps changing it back and I don't know why but are you trying to make Tinashe look bad? Please if someone has pictures: add them and stop making this picture of a 2017 performance the first picture you see thanks!--Kachingwe0602 (talk) 16:58, 17 March 2019 (UTC)
Include mixtapes in discography section?
editI was about to add her mixtapes to the discography section of her page, but then decided to post here first. Although they aren't officially considered studio albums, I would argue that her mixtapes should be included in the discography section because these projects are an essential part of her discography and shouldn't only be listed on her dedicated discography Wiki page - they should be on her main artist page as well. Agree/disagree? Share your thoughts. — Preceding unsigned comment added by JonathanBeller (talk • contribs) 08:03, 18 July 2020 (UTC)
