The result of the move request was: not moved. RM hinges on WP:NCSP. Despite the supporters' claims, it in fact favours the opposers' arguments: it says that Americans should be labelled with "soccer", and this person is clearly American. Tony Leone (soccer) → Tony Leone (footballer) – WP:NCSP Joeykai (talk) 04:19, 2 July 2022 (UTC)
- WP:NCSP appears to support the use of "(soccer)" in this case. Interestingly, the article also has {{Use American English}} but does not appear to use it. Dekimasuよ! 04:55, 2 July 2022 (UTC)

- Oppose - U.S. born, plays in U.S., has played for U.S. youth teams - 'soccer' is appropriate. GiantSnowman 19:13, 3 July 2022 (UTC)
- Oppose. Far better known as an American than a Mexican. -- Necrothesp (talk) 13:26, 6 July 2022 (UTC)
- Support per WP:NCSP.--Ortizesp (talk) 00:52, 8 July 2022 (UTC)
- Oppose WP:ENGVAR MOS:TIES British English is not American English for use in an article about an American born person who plays in America. The article needs to be purged of the non-American terminology -- 64.229.88.43 (talk) 06:33, 8 July 2022 (UTC)
