Naming consistency

edit

I have read the terminology section, and now I wonder what would be the best title on individual cities' wikipedia pages? As a title for the section where twin towns/sister cities are listed, like here. I ask because I noticed a lot of inconsistency there. Some articles had just "Twin towns" or "Sister cities" and others had some variation of "Twin towns and sister cities". The most common one I found was "Twin towns – sister cities" so I have been using that, but I am unsure if it is the best option. Should it be done according to the region's preferences, and therefore always include just one option, e.g. "Twin towns" when it's in Europe, or always both? And would "and" be a better connector? I think it might be easier to read with an "and", but I would really like someone else to chime in. – Ynneblack (talk) 21:08, 18 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

Sister City origins

edit

The idea of sister cities goes back to the ancient Middle East, which personified cities and regions, and created myths about how they interacted. For example, Jerusalem and Samaria were considered two "unchaste sisters" and it was said that Edom treated his brother Israel with enmity. What does it actually do?

edit

No where in this article is it explained what city twinning actually does. How does it encourage business links? Tax breaks? Does it actually have any fiction other than making lists of twinned cities? 2A02:810D:E80:2ED4:150C:1F76:54CC:1F79 (talk) 16:36, 21 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
