Comment was there at one point a consensus in WP Weather to have weather time event articles titled in a way that makes the most critical identifier of the time event, the year, visible to readers? Oppose; is this really more likely to be the subject of the term "Tropical Storm Dorothy" than all (in this case, two) of the other topics to which the name refers? Yes, we get rid of unnecessary disambiguation, but the disambiguation seems necessary in this case, as far as I see it. Nyttend (talk) 00:22, 16 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
- The answer to that question is an unequivocal "yes", as far as I can tell. This storm killed dozens of people and left many hundreds in destitution, while the others had no discernible impact whatsoever. If you're of the opinion that the tropical cyclone WikiProject should always use the year modifiers except in cases of retired storms, like we've done for most of Wikipedia's history, that's a different story and I don't necessarily disagree.
