Introduction
editI have deleted "key" from "Ozone (O3) is a key constituent of the troposphere". Since the vast majority of tropospheric ozone is manmade it doesn't seem right. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Smartse (talk • contribs) 17:23, 25 November 2008 (UTC)
Ground level and atmospheric
editThere should be a much clearer separation between ground level ozone and atmospheric ozone. 216.90.172.158 19:00, 24 August 2007 (UTC)
"Measurements specifically of ground-level ozone require in-situ monitoring with 2004 technology." This sentence needs clarification, what is meant by "2004" technology?

Perhaps something should be said about NO2 being produced in car engines as well and so the reaction can carry on from the step where NO2 is produced without any of the previous steps occurring. (I know what I have said is not clear that is why I have not edited) --Max Randor 16:51, 15 March 2007 (UTC)

Needs improvement
editI believe the first three sections of this page could be significantly improved. An example is this paragraph:
"Photochemical and chemical reactions involving it drive many of the chemical processes that occur in the atmosphere by day and by night. At abnormally high concentrations brought about by human activities (largely incomplete combustion of fossil fuels, such as gasoline, diesel, etc.), it is a pollutant, and a constituent of smog. Many highly energetic reactions produce it, ranging from combustion to photocopying. Often laser printers will have a smell of ozone[citation needed], which in high concentrations is toxic. Ozone is a powerful oxidizing agent readily reacting with other chemical compounds to make many possibly toxic oxides."
It makes many unreferenced claims like "brought about by human activities (largely incomplete combustion of fossil fuels, such as gasoline, diesel, etc." while depending on the situation this could be true NOx, one of the regulated criteria pollutants that is a ozone per-cursor, is a product of nearly complete combustion. The paragraph then says this: "Many highly energetic reactions produce it, ranging from combustion to photocopying" what is "it"? Is "it" photochemicals, chemical reactions, ozone? If "it" is ozone this statement is wrong, combustion does not directly produce ozone.
I would also question the need for this article, the ozone page contains much of the same information, is more accurate, and from my perspective more clearly written.
