General: Article is new enough and long enough
Policy: Article is sourced, neutral, and free of copyright problems
Hook: Hook has been verified by provided inline citation
  • Cited:
  • Interesting:
QPQ: Done.

Overall:   QPQ is good. The link given doesn't verify the Queen Elizabeth II part of the first hook, although the citation in the article verifies it, so it should be fine. First hook is the most interesting imho (especially given that people connected both, although it isn't in the hook), but the concept of Tumblr sexyman probably makes any hook funny. Article is well-sourced. ALT1 could maybe have a link to The Lorax so people can look up the sexyman by themselves. Chaotıċ Enby (talk · contribs) 01:02, 21 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for pointing out that the link doesn't verify the Elizabeth claim, I used the wrong link! I meant to use this one. Di (they-them) (talk) 01:14, 21 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Origin of term

edit

The article states that the concept originated with the Onceler, but I am certain that the term/concept "Tumblr sexyman" was not used at the time. He's just seen as prototypical. So should we clarify when it was popularized? Pondofturtles9 (talk) 00:45, 30 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

Jax from The Amazing Digital Circus

edit

Would Jax qualify to be added under the Tumblr Sexyman notable examples? Wikipedia heads, give me some resources of citing articles about this. 72.47.21.19 (talk) 19:41, 27 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

You’d need to have a reliable secondary source that’s independent of the subject and calls him one to add him. Basically this means that it comes from a reputable website that isn’t associated with Gooseworx, Glitch, etc. If you can find that, he could make a good addition! Hey there,
I couldn't find anything outside of stuff from Know Your Meme and Newgrounds forum posts by the site's users. I'm not sure if you're familiar with the zeitgeist around mainstream internet culture outlets, but if you are, let me know what outlet websites are usually used for these kinds of citations. 72.47.21.19 (talk) 21:23, 28 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
Typically we use secondary sources such as news articles or papers. Stuff that is written by random online users (like forums) and/or can be edited by anyone (like Know Your Meme) aren’t considered reliable. Di (they-them) (talk) 00:59, 29 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
