why is it several thousand miles long?

explantion since this is the biggest typo ive ever seen Krabs7281 (talk) 15:26, 18 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

The highway is just about 172+23 miles (277.9 km) in length. The infobox gives the length to three decimal places, but that's a decimal point in the middle of the number, which is standard in English. Imzadi 1979  15:54, 18 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Imzadi1979 seems more confusing Krabs7281 (talk) 15:57, 18 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Krabs7281: is English your primary language? Imzadi 1979  16:06, 18 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Imzadi1979 secondary and ive never seen 3 decimals Krabs7281 (talk) 16:07, 18 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Krabs7281: that makes sense. In French and other languages, the number would be given as "172,663" to indicate the same value as "172.663" in English for a highway just under 172+23 miles in length. There is no typo to correct. Now, the length in the running prose doesn't need to be so precise, but the length in the infobox should be left alone to reflect the precision of the sources. 0.001 miles (5.3 ft; 1.6 m) isn't overly precise for surveying purposes.
