editAny evidence or reasoning for naming the two users above? Karyn Devlin (talk) 17:19, 22 July 2015 (UTC)
- Clearly none.
- User:Karyn Devlin I've restored the tags, removed by the IP User:82.132.226.206 [1]. I take it the IP was you? These are needed when the COI tag is on the article, and rightly so to ask for justification here. They are a selection of connected WP:SPA presumably WP:COI / or declared paid editors on others articles but undeclared here / and the latest a declared editor. My edit summaries make this clear, and if anyone had pinged me, I would have replied as such. There's now a declared COI, seemingly promising none of the undeclared ones will edit from now on. That should be enough to block all the undeclared ones as breaking the ToU and COI policies. Widefox; talk 01:25, 7 November 2015 (UTC)

Introduction and disclosing COI
editHi. I'm here on behalf of Uproxx and its founder, Jarret Myer, to suggest improvements to this article. I realize that there have been Uproxx employees who have edited this article in the past, so before I talk about content, I'd like to introduce myself, fully disclose my COI, and let others know how I plan to contribute.
First, I am not an employee of the company, but I am being paid as part of my work at consulting firm Beutler Ink. Because of my conflict of interest, I will never edit the article directly. Instead, I will start discussions here on the Talk page about potential changes that others can review and weigh in on. If consensus is reached, I'll let other editors make the edits. While I am active on the page, Uproxx has assured me there will be no other edits or messages from anyone else connected with Uproxx. I'm aware from the edit history that there have been edits made here by a couple of accounts linked to Uproxx and Myer; they were not aware at the time that they should disclose their affiliation and avoid direct editing, but they are now. I should also note that I am working on the Jarret Myer article as well, and will be posting a similar note on that Talk page.
My next step is to start looking into available sourcing about Uproxx. I'm hoping to find areas where the entry can be expanded. As it stands, the information could be more encyclopedic in tone and content. In the meantime, I'll be watching the Talk page in case anyone has questions for me or ideas about the article. Thanks! Heatherer (talk) 16:53, 14 October 2015 (UTC)
- I added the connected template above - please read and comply with WP:PAID and follow the links to the different COI / paid editing pages. You shall disclose your employer, client etc using the template above (I do not know who they are), and follow those policies. The same applies to your draft articles. You are confirming that the accounts above have a Uproxx COI? Widefox; talk 01:41, 7 November 2015 (UTC)
- @Widefox: Thanks for adding that. Like I noted on my Talk page, leaving it off was completely unintentional. Since I haven't actually contributed anything to this article yet (just introduced myself), I will definitely add a {{Connected contributor (paid)}} template once I propose changes (which I am working on now).
- I am not able to confirm any of the accounts above have an Uproxx COI, because I don't know with certainty which ones do and which ones do not. I can only speak for my account and can pass along the guarantee I received from Uproxx that there will be no other connected editors while I am working on this entry. Suggestion for major article update
editThis edit request by an editor with a conflict of interest has now been answered. |
Hi again. I have returned with a proposed new draft for this article. Like I mentioned in my first message, my goals here were to expand the article based on available sources and include information that was more encyclopedic in tone and content. Editors can review my draft here:
I incorporated much of what is already in the article, and also added a Staff and operations section. I renamed the Original content section to Content and included more about the site's blogs and the types of articles it publishes. Let me know if there are any questions about these suggestions.
As previously indicated, I was paid to research and write this draft for Uproxx as part of my work at Beutler Ink, so I won't be making any edits to this article directly. My aim was to write neutrally and avoid being promotional, but I welcome any notes for improvement. Thanks! Heatherer (talk) 15:48, 24 November 2015 (UTC)
- Reviewed and moved. Best, FoCuS contribs; talk to me! 18:12, 22 March 2016 (UTC)
- This looks great FoCuSandLeArN. Thank you so much for editing my draft and moving it over! I'm also still working on Jarret Myer's article. You contributed to the RfC some time ago, but I've made some edits to my proposed draft since. Would you be interested in revisiting it? Thanks! Heatherer (talk) 18:45, 22 March 2016 (UTC)
- No worries! Sure, I'll have a look. Cheers, FoCuS contribs; talk to me! 02:02, 23 March 2016 (UTC)

Updates for infobox
editThis edit request by an editor with a conflict of interest has now been answered. |
Hi there! On behalf Uproxx's parent company–Uproxx Media Group–and as part of my work at Beutler Ink, I am submitting a request to update the company's logo in this article's infobox to the following: File:Uproxx Media Group Logo.png. This is the same logo appearing in the inbox for the Uproxx Media Group article, and is the latest version of the logo used by the brand per its website. On a related note, I am also seeking to update this article's infobox to show "Uproxx Media Group" as the owner, replacing the company's former name, Woven Digital.
Is there an uninvolved editor who can make these updates on my behalf? Thank you in advance! 16912 Rhiannon (Talk · COI) 18:55, 4 August 2017 (UTC)
- All changes have been implemented. jd22292 (Jalen D. Folf) (talk) 23:23, 4 August 2017 (UTC)
- Thanks so much, jd22292! I also have a short request on the Talk page at Uproxx Media Group, if you'd have time to take a peek. Thanks again! 16912 Rhiannon (Talk · COI) 17:28, 8 August 2017 (UTC)
Merger proposal
editFormal request has been received to merge: Uproxx Media Group into Uproxx; dated: 18 April 2019. Proposer's Rationale: Uproxx Media Group should become part of Uproxx. After the acquisition of Uproxx by Warner Music Group, "Uproxx Media Group" no longer exists. It could be then be referenced under the "History" portion of the Uproxx page to reduce redundancy and properly define the company. (NOTE:I am an employee of Uproxx and am aware of the COI guidelines.) Thank you in advance. -SteveZissou2019 (talk). Discuss here. GenQuest "Talk to Me" 19:13, 18 April 2019 (UTC)
- Comment: Looking over both articles, the merger could go in either direction, and should be part of the discussion. I would be more inclined toward the Uproxx article being merged into the UMG article, and then the resultant article being renamed back to "Uproxx." GenQuest "Talk to Me" 19:33, 18 April 2019 (UTC)
- Comment: I believe it would be best for "Uproxx Media Group" to be merged into "Uproxx" instead. Uproxx Media Group is formerly Woven Digital, so most of the information on that page applies to Uproxx Media Group/Woven Digital (which no longer exists), not Uproxx. For instance, the founders of Uproxx Media Group/Woven Digital are Scott Grimes and Michael Laur, while the founders of Uproxx are Jarret Myer and Brian Brater. It would be most beneficial to merge the info from the company that no longer exists into the one that still does (Uproxx). I hope this information helps! (I am the person who suggested this merger - I am an employee of Uproxx and am aware of the COI guidelines.) SteveZissou2019 (talk) 20:59, 18 April 2019 (UTC)
- Support I'm more inclined towards merging into Uproxx per SteveZissou2019's arguments, however it could really go either way. If @SteveZissou2019: performs the merger I would happily review it to comply with the COI guidelines. Trialpears (talk) 21:28, 24 April 2019 (UTC)
- Comment: Thanks! I'll perform the merger, if you have any pointers on doing so. Otherwise I'll follow the procedure outlined on the ["How To Merge"] page. SteveZissou2019 (talk) 18:28, 30 April 2019 (UTC)
- Merger performed by @SteveZissou2019:. I have read through it per WP:COI and everything was in order. Trialpears 22:02, 7 May 2019 (UTC)
Merger complete.
Updates To Infobox And Sections
editHello! I am an employee of Uproxx, and I'm aware of the COI guidelines. I'd like to submit a request to update some outdated information on the current Uproxx page. I just helped perform the merger from Uproxx Media Group into Uproxx, and there are some errors currently on the page that should also be corrected:
Infobox: Kris Maske's title should be Head of Publishing, Kurt Campbell-Anderson is Head of Studio and Ryan Perry is no longer with Uproxx. [1] "Warner Music Group" is now the owner after Uproxx's acquisition. [2]
Content: Smoking Section, Real Talk, and Gammasquad are no longer in operation. (No direct citation for this, but they're no longer found within Uproxx's tabs.)
Staff and operations: Kris Maske is Head of Publishing, Kurt Campbell-Anderson is Head of Studio, Benjamin Blank is CEO, and Chris Mottram, Keith Phipps, Alan Sepinwall, and Ryan Perry are no longer with Uproxx. [1]
Is there an uninvolved editor who can make these updates on my behalf? Thank you in advance! SteveZissou2019 (talk) 15:48, 8 May 2019 (UTC)
Change "Uproxx" to "UPROXX"
editHello! I am an employee of UPROXX, and I'm aware of the COI guidelines. I'd like to submit a request to change the displayed name of the company from "Uproxx" to "UPROXX", all caps, throughout this page. This is how the site name is displayed on social media accounts, the site's About page, and elsewhere on other coverage. [1] [3]
Is there an uninvolved editor who can make these updates on my behalf? Thank you in advance! SteveZissou2019 (talk) 23:30, 30 July 2019 (UTC)
- Not done This is a quite comment request and consensus is not to per MOS:TMRULES.
Follow standard English text formatting and capitalization practices, even if the trademark owner considers nonstandard formatting "official", as long as this is a style already in widespread use, rather than inventing a new one
- It is clearly in widespread use elsewhere as seen by taking a quick look at the sources cited in this article and should thus not be done. --Trialpears (talk) 23:43, 30 July 2019 (UTC)

Conflict Of Interest edit request
editThis edit request by an editor with a conflict of interest has now been answered. |
- What I think should be changed (include citations):
Hello - as a current employee of Uproxx, I'd like to suggest some changes to this page as it has been some time since any updates have been added:
Introduction: -remove this line: "The site's target audience is men aged 18–34."
Not done It is cited and verified by a reliable source. Z1720 (talk) 23:07, 6 October 2022 (UTC)
History: -add reference to Warner Music Group purchasing Uproxx: "Warner Music Group acquired Uproxx in August 2018." [1]
Done Z1720 (talk) 23:07, 6 October 2022 (UTC)
Content: -change first line to "Uproxx is a news and discussion website that is geared toward youth culture." -include mentions of additional verticals launched by Uproxx: "Uproxx has also launched additional verticals, including gaming-focused Edge[2], Life/Style, and music verticals Indie Mixtape[3] and Pop Life. -remove ""With Spandex", about pro wrestling;" as this is no longer a current vertical or topic primarily covered.
Not done Prnewswire is a press release service, so it is a primary source and generally not used on Wikipedia. Z1720 (talk) 23:07, 6 October 2022 (UTC)
Content - Video: -add paragraph of original, recurring programs launched by Uproxx: "Uproxx has also launched multiple music-focused video series on its YouTube channels, including "People's Party With Talib Kweli" in 2019[4], "UPROXX Sessions" in 2020[5], "How I Blew Up," "Behind The Video," and "React Like You Know."
Not done Promotional text, no need to add this. Z1720 (talk) 23:07, 6 October 2022 (UTC)
Staff And Operations: -remove references to Kurt Campbell-Anderson and Benjamin Blank as they are now WMX Head Of Studio and WMX CEO, respectively [6]. Line should read: "The editorial staff is led by Editor-In-Chief Brett Michael Dykes. Publishing operations and creative strategy are led by head of publishing Kris Maske and president Jarret Myer."
Partly done While the source does not say that these people have left Uproxx, I think its safe to assume that they have and do not see a harm in removing the information. Personally, I think the whole staff section can probably be removed as I do not think any of these people are notable. I did not add the new people mentioned above because there was no source attached to the request. Z1720 (talk) 23:07, 6 October 2022 (UTC)
Info Box - Key People: -remove Kurt Campbell-Anderson and Benjamin Blank as they are now WMX Head Of Studio and WMX CEO, respectively [7].
Done per above. Z1720 (talk) 23:07, 6 October 2022 (UTC)
- Why it should be changed:
This changes better reflect Uproxx and its content in its current state to readers.
Thanks! SteveZissou2019 (talk) 23:25, 14 February 2022 (UTC)
SteveZissou2019 (talk) 23:25, 14 February 2022 (UTC)
- @SteveZissou2019: Hello and welcome! Thanks for complying to COI regulations by making an edit request.
- However, part of the same requirements is that you properly disclose your paid affiliation. (WP:PAID) Since you're a current employee I assume you are being paid for your services. There's already a box on the top of this Talk page where several others are listed as paid contributors. You could simply add your username there, or if you need help doing so, I or some other editor can help you do it. You can read more about ways to properly disclose this at WP:DISCLOSE. Of course this doesn't apply if you're simply working for Uproxx but not receiving compensation for your edits and requests. Just wanted to point that out.
- I'll leave the actual content of the request to another editor. ★Ama TALK CONTRIBS 18:36, 29 April 2022 (UTC)
- Comments above, closing request as answered. Z1720 (talk) 23:07, 6 October 2022 (UTC)
