This is in way of trying to gather information regarding the rescue of one John Thomas Gay, Jr. by the Durable in the 1980's. We are trying to piece together his story of lost at sea for 16 days. If anyone has information of how I can track down the particulars please respond to beejself@peoplepc.com. Thank you. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.69.140.23 (talk) 00:38, 6 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

I assume you've figgered it out, by now, or your journalistic effort has died on the .vine. These talk pages don't get the kind of traffic you need, as that is not their intention. If, however, you got your piece published, I, personally would be interested. Call me nosey. I can be reached in the normal manner thru en.WP, or at"ragityman(at)gmail." rags (talk) 21:23, 31 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

Helo discrepancy

edit

The HH-65 Dolphin did not go into service until 1985, according to WP. Was helicopter cabability ADDED during the refit? Or what chopper did the Durable use for its first 2 decades? Just wondering. NOT finding fault: this article is excellent, imo easily a FA candidate. rags (talk) 21:32, 31 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

I seem to have an audience of one, here. The answer seems to be "The SA366 G1 Dauphin version was selected by the United States Coast Guard in 1979 as its new short range recovery (SRR) air-sea rescue helicopter, replacing the Sikorsky HH-52A Sea Guard" (from the HH-65 article). I don't know if this needs added to the live article. The history of things interests me. rags (talk) 22:25, 31 August 2018 (UTC)Reply
