Merger proposal

The result of this discussion was to merge both articles and keep United Nations Secretary-General selection, 2016. Wykx (talk) 12:02, 20 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

I propose that United Nations Secretary-General election, 2016 be merged into United Nations Secretary-General selection, 2016. I think that the content in the election article can easily be explained in the context of selection, and the selection article is of a reasonable size that the merging of election will not cause any problems as far as article size or undue weight is concerned. And this one is more accurate and complete. --Wildcursive (talk) 23:03, 21 August 2016 (UTC)Reply

comment merging is fine as this was bigger, but the title is more consistent with "election." He is after ll elected (even non popular elections are call so)Lihaas (talk) 12:00, 21 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

Christiana Figueres

edit

This media outlet suggests that Christiana Figueres withdrew her candidacy. It's in Spanish and Google Translate isn't the most reliable tool. Can a Spanish speaking user confirm it ? This is the article. --Killuminator (talk) 22:16, 31 August 2016 (UTC) The polls in the article seem to indicate this I done.Lihaas (talk) 12:01, 21 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

not the 9th to succeed

edit

Guterres is not "the ninth Secretary-General of the United Nations to succeed Ban Ki-moon". He was elected to succeed Ban Ki-moon as the ninth SG of the UN". --Richardson mcphillips (talk) 16:34, 11 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Srgjan Kerim candidacy

edit

At the time of this selection, North Macedonia was "FYROM" or "FYR Macedonia" within the UN. This was also how the candidacy was presented:
