Nice article...
edit... but you might want to use Wikipedia:Citation templates, to format the citations in the References section. Smee 03:19, 26 May 2007 (UTC).
The Lat/Long in the references are bogus. They point to someplace off of the coast of Mexico, not Louisville! 76.183.60.56 03:45, 30 May 2007 (UTC)
"Media reports have stated that the University of Louisville is close to signing a deal to put a Community Health Center in the historic building." This is untrue, Family Health Services is the community health center in Louisville, KY. In fact, the building directly in front of the United Marine Hospital is a F.H.S. Clinic. Just want to point this put, you can do the research on it if you want to validate it, but I am a patient of the clinic myself. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.69.46.40 (talk) 16:04, 16 November 2010 (UTC)
There are other United States Marine Hospitals still in existance
editA few points:
- The source cited does not say that this is considered the best remaining antebellum hospital in the United States. It says that "The Louisville hospital was built between 1845 and 1852 and is the best of the few surviving examples of some 30 (United States Marine) hospitals built before the Civil War, including 7 authorized by Congress in 1837 for construction on the "Western Waters."
- "It is the only one still standing, even after surviving two tornadoes." is incorrect, the source above clearly states that others still exist...the United States Marine Hospital (Mobile, Alabama) is one that was built in 1842 and is in excellent condition to the present day. At least one other also exists in Chelsea, Massachusetts. Cheers. Altairisfartalk 04:49, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
Iron railings
edit"The 28 sets of wrought iron railings lining the building's galleries were either restored or replaced by the same Covington, Kentucky-based iron works company that created the original ones in 1850."
There is no citation for me to investigate, but the railings were probably supplied by Stewart Iron Works.- Gilliam (talk) 15:21, 12 February 2014 (UTC)
