Advert?
editSurely it looks like an advertisement, because it was just copied from the website. At least it is included in the wiki site.Contributor of the wikiproject universities and colleges in Malaysia still not large in numbers.Hopefully, someone will help out with this.Besides of earlier mentioned problem, lack of sources also contribute to advertisement-like article.- user:senyuman
- Right you are, and because it was copied from the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia website([1], [2]), it was a copyright violation and has been removed as per WP:Copyright. I have also removed the advertisement tag as this eliminated the advertising-like content. Danelo 20:57, 19 July 2007 (UTC)
Part simplified
editI have cut out some repetitions and partially reorganised the article but it needs more clean-up time than I have today. I could not see what this link early in the text did (it seems to be repeated later in the list of departments &c.) so I have parked it here sans [s & ]s against reinsertion by someone who understands. Chemical Engineering Pilot Plant (CEPP). The article had an air which might have come from an advertisement or which could have been cultural vanity. Clearly in WP many covert advertisers are glad to give away their blurbs free.--SilasW 21:55, 29 September 2007 (UTC)
Redirect
editThe following content was at an aricle for the Enviromental Building faculty:
is indeed historical to the University as it was the first school and campus to be set up since 1904. Since then, this learning institution survived and witnesses all significant historical events from Malaya as a British subject to Japanese occupation and later, to be Malaysia. The evolution has steadily progress throughout more than a century. Then, this institution was only a technical school in Weld Road (now Jalan Raja Chulan) in Kuala Lumpur, which offers part time technical courses for technical assistants of Federal Malay States Departments of Railways, Survey, and Public Works, mainly in architecture and civil engineering field. Then, this campus was known as `Treacher Technical School’ and in 1941, this school was promoted to a college status and was given a piece of land in Gurney Road ( no Jalan Semarak) in Kuala Lumpur for the new college to be built. However, this project halted during World War II where the Japanese ruled Malaya from 1942 until 1945. During that 3 years, the college was called `Shihan Gakko’ and was relocated to a place near High Street (now Jalan Bandar). After the Japanese surrendered, this college reopened in 1946 where the earlier plan resumed on Gurney Road with the help of British Government’s funds. A decade later, Sir Donald MacGillivray, British High Commissioner in Malaya then, officially opened this Technical College in 1 March 1955. Two years after that, Malaya attained independence from Britain and is known as Malaysia until today. Two decades later, this college attained University status and was officially declared as `Universiti Teknologi Malaysia’ ( UTM) on 1 April 1975. Expansion to Skudai, Johor (2400-acre land offered by Johor Sultant) started two years later where the Skudai Campus opened in 1985 where most of the main administration offices moved down from KL. Today, after more than 3 decades later, this University has attained Research University Status.
I was going to merge it here, but thought would be best for an editor who works here often to assess what is noted and what is not. I'll leave it where I feel best for now. S.G.(GH) ping! 20:04, 22 June 2010 (UTC)
I merged the content, but I'm no historian. Please, if a history expert could take a look at the content, it would be much appreciated. I broke the history into two sections, pre and post independence.Zero.vishnu (talk) 15:30, 24 June 2012 (UTC)
