Opinions on transportation issues
editRegarding the following statement in the article: While the high cost of the toll between Brooklyn and Staten Island has always been an issue for residents, some[who?] favor the toll because they see it as a way to curb population growth on Staten Island. Each of the four bridges to the Island is tolled.
Generally the entire spectrum of possible opinions are held by some residents about every transportation issue. Some people do want to see growth, others are against it. This comment could be made about every bridge that replaced a ferry, every airport runway, and every road. Somebody is for it, some are against it. I would suggest that it be removed as a meaningless statement unless it is supported by a poll or good news article.Pacomartin (talk)

Name of bridge locally
editLocally the bridge is simply known as the Verrazzano and I think it should be added to the header. La Fuzion (K lo K) 20:19, 6 January 2020 (UTC)

There is a discrepancy in the photo dates
editIn the "construction" section of this article there is a photo which is dated 1960 that shows one tower completed and the suspension cables already "strung" across the top toward the other tower which MUST be in place to "catch" the cables. However, there is another photo below it dated 1962, which shows the tower as not anywhere close to complete, and also no cables at all! What gives?? 47.7.240.106 (talk) 23:44, 22 March 2024 (UTC)
- Fixed. Good catch! According to sources in the article, the first steel was not placed until late 1961 and cables were not strung until 1963. I removed the 1960 date from the caption since it must be wrong. Station1 (talk) 04:20, 23 March 2024 (UTC)
