Image on page
editImage (c) 1997; RWD PLOESSL & USAIHP This graphic is a scan from the author's personal collection; therfor, not a US decoration, nor public domain. This graphic can be viewed on the Foreign Medals pages of the United States Army Insignia Home Page site, http://webpages.charter.net/usaihp/formed3.html
- But where did YOU get it from?
The webpage says: "Permission to use these images for commercial purposes must be obtained from The Institute of Heraldry, Resources and Programs Agency, The Administrative Assistant to the Secretary of the Army; prior to their use." so I dont think the owner of the webpage can calim image ownership to pictures of the Vietnam Military Merit Medal.
French based Awards
editSince the Vietnamese medals were based on the French medals, I assume anyone being awarded the Vietnamese Military Merit Medal would also be awarded the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry, as per the French custom. Also, in the French system, if you were awarded four Croix de Guerre citations, you automatically were awarded the Military Merit (Medaille Militaire) Citation, so I assume this would be the same in the Vietnamese system. 69.236.142.192 (talk) 19:20, 25 February 2012 (UTC)
