Should we move Wanaka to Wanaka, New Zealand? In such a move, would all references to Wanaka be automatically adjusted by wikipedia, or would I have to edit all of them by hand (or set a redirect)? -- Yogi de 22:07, 15 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Note Wanaka in New Zealand seems to be the only place called Wanaka - so there is no ambiguity so far. At the moment, no article (except for this talk page and one other merge candidates page) points to Wanaka, New Zealand - see [1] --Yogi de 22:15, 15 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Picture question

current picture

I have uploaded a picture which is larger than the one currently used in the article, and would like to check if it was okay to change it, or whether the current one is preferred. I reckon it's polite to ask first, as it would be a little rude to replace it with asking (will let the original picture owner too) Regards, MartinRe 21:28, 25 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Confusion about climate

edit

It makes no sense to say that "its Oceanic climate, ...enjoy a near continental climate". It is either Oceanic or Continental, cannot be both.Royalcourtier (talk) 05:50, 12 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

Name change

edit

The name of the town was changed to "Wānaka" on 26 Aucust 2021 (link to NZ Gazetteer notice), and I've moved the article to follow Wikipedia:Naming conventions (New Zealand). Some schools and other institutions may not chave changed their name yet, so we'll need to check before renaming other articles. Obviously historic usages of the name should stay as "Wanaka" to avoid anachronism. —Giantflightlessbirds (talk) 22:19, 2 September 2021 (UTC)Reply
