Did You Know
A fact from this article appeared on Wikipedia's Main Page in the "Did you know?" column on May 8, 2009.
The text of the entry was: Did you know ... that Wandsworth Bridge has been described as "probably the least noteworthy bridge in London"?
Current status: Featured article

least noteworthy?

edit

This bridge seems pretty noteworthy considering that of all the bridges in London, it's the least noteworthy. 216.165.132.250 (talk) 17:11, 8 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

While it's a claim that's been quite widely repeated – and hence included in the article – it's not one I agree with in the least. Even among the big Thames bridges, there are many more that I'd consider less noteworthy both architecturally and in terms of their impact on the areas they serve (Battersea Railway Bridge? Teddington Lock Footbridge?) – and if we're going with "in London" as opposed to "over the Thames", there are literally dozens if not hundreds of bridges that will never even be notable enough to warrant an article of their own – are you seriously suggesting that one of the busiest bridges in the world is less notable than the Northumberland Park railway station footbridge? – iridescent 17:27, 8 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

This claim is surely a victim of the Interesting number paradox?
