Edit request, add kidnapping and abuse of kidnapping victims by israel

Please edit the article to include that "israel has been accused of retaliatory kidnapping and mistreatment of 3,432 civilians detained indefinitely without charges, 3:1 overcrowding, forcing prisoners to sleep on the floor, attacking, terrorizing and humiliating prisoners with dogs, using pepper spray and tear gas for no reason, broke prisoners bones, denied prisoners medical treatment, severely beating prisoners, continuing abusive practices the israeli occupation has used for decades. Dozens of journalists and healthcare workers from Gaza have also been arbitrarily detained or kidnapped." using https://www.upi.com/Top_News/World-News/2024/08/11/palestine-israel-captive-taking-overcrowding-prisons/1021723387906/ as a source. - Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. Much of this is already represented in the Abuse and humiliation of detainees section – macaddct1984 (talk | contribs) 13:51, 12 August 2024 (UTC)
- @Macaddct1984 What's not clear? — kashmīrī TALK 18:52, 12 August 2024 (UTC)
- Kashmiri, it wasn't clear where they want it added; they've clarified now they would like a new section on abductions and expand the detainee abuse section; feel free to add it. Although, I don't think using the phrase "
Israel is accused
" is not an accurate representation of the source; the prisoner conditions comes from what "the captives said in a joint statement
" and "Palestinians and their supporters often equate [administrative detention] to kidnapping
". – macaddct1984 (talk | contribs) 23:11, 12 August 2024 (UTC)

- Change no section on abductions, referring to retaliatory kidnapping by israel to a new section on abductions where israel is accused of carrying out retaliatory kidnappings of 3,432 civilians including healthcare workers and journalists using the upi source as reference. In the abuse of detainee section change nothing to be "israel is accused of 3:1 overcrowding, as well as forcing detainees to sleep on the floor, as well as attacking, terrorizing and humiliating prisoners with dogs, using pepper spray and tear gas for no reason, broke prisoners bones, denied prisoners medical treatment, severely beating prisoners, continuing abusive practices the israeli occupation has used for decades." Again using the upi article as reference. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Fanccr (talk • contribs) 18:28, 12 August 2024 (UTC)

Not done, needs more references and more mainstream references.

There are a couple typos. Joshuagcarpenter (talk) 20:22, 20 August 2024 (UTC)

Proposed split
editProposing split for two related but different topics; one for Israel's conduct, and the other for Palestinian militant groups, during the Israel-Hamas war. Makeandtoss (talk) 15:12, 2 September 2024 (UTC)
- Israeli war crimes in the Israel–Hamas war exists, as well as Israeli war crimes the equivalent of the latter for Hamas is included in Hamas war crimes. What exactly is it that you are proposing? Selfstudier (talk) 15:27, 2 September 2024 (UTC)
- Then why do we have both in the same article? Makeandtoss (talk) 16:16, 2 September 2024 (UTC)
- There's the rub, which articles do we want to have as parents and which as children? Atm, we have IH war, contains a War crimes section, with this article as main (and Israeli/Hamas war crimes as see alsos).
- Then this article has Israeli war crimes in the Israel–Hamas war and Hamas war crimes, as main, something not quite right there. Selfstudier (talk) 16:36, 2 September 2024 (UTC)
- The way I see it in this heirarchy: war crimes section in IH war => two articles for war crimes of each side in IH war => two articles for war crimes of each side generally. Makeandtoss (talk) 22:12, 2 September 2024 (UTC)
- Then why do we have both in the same article? Makeandtoss (talk) 16:16, 2 September 2024 (UTC)
Edit request in the first paragraph under the "By Israel" section
editSeeing as the war is in its second year, and it's not going to end in the next 3 days, it would make things clearer to change "On 27 October, the White House stated it had no red lines for Israeli actions." to "On 27 October 2023, the [...]" Tahadagal (talk) 14:50, 24 October 2024 (UTC)
Edit request for a reference in the Proportionality and distinction section
editReference number 120, a Washington Post article titled "As Gaza death toll soars, secrecy shrouds Israel’s targeting process" (gift article, free to read) does not cite it's authors names. It was written by Louisa Loveluck, Susannah George, and Michael Birnbaum.
I know that it's relatively minor in the grand scheme of things, but it's always better for references to have more information than less.
