Split?

edit

Nothing here yet to split - needs developing. :: Kevinalewis : (Talk Page)/(Desk) 10:29, 30 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Well, yes, I agree.... sort of.... I actually think it would be unwise to move the content to Whistle Down the Wind (film) yet, since there would almost no content left here. I placed the split tag because I wanted to draw the issue of a double topic to the attention of the film and novel projects, and to open discussion.

Generally speaking, it's preferred to split film and novel articles, and much work of this nature is currently underway. Per naming conventions, Whistle Down the Wind should be about the book. Since most of the existing content concerns the film, I think a complete rewrite is in order.

However, rewriting the article would effectively destroy the existing version, which is a perfectly good film stub. The version about the film could be subsequently copied and pasted to a new space, but this would lose three years of the article's history, which seems unfortunate.

The ideal solution, as I see it, would be for someone (preferably someone familiar with the book, ie not me) to write a good stub article about the novel elsewhere (eg user space) and then move the existing article as is before replacing the resulting redirect with the novel stub. I've never seen the novel anywhere. In fact, doesn't the film note the story is adapted from a "short story" by Bell? If so, then an article about the film would be all that is needed. I am going to elaborate a bit on the story since this stub is far too short. Feel free to revert if it is too revealing. ZincOrbie 17:02, 15 November 2006 (UTC)Reply
I removed the "stub" flag from the article as this seems long enough now where it is inappropriate. Is that OK? ZincOrbie 04:43, 18 November 2006 (UTC)Reply
