About the Releases section
editDumb question. Few questionable sources (one including Reddit, but its him posting about himself) are saying his upcoming album is set to be released in 2022. I don't quite know if I should be putting this in here but should the line about no current release date be removed or rewritten or left alone? He mentioned it releasing mid/late 2022 on his IndieGoGo FAQ, on his Reddit AMA and a student news website interview. Fiene Oomens (talk) 15:06, 4 December 2021 (UTC)
Should this article exist?
editI have mixed feeling about this article, and forgive me if this isn't in the proper style, but it's partially my fault this article exists, as I put Will Wood's name on the requested articles board. It has come to my attention that Will Wood does not want a Wikipedia article about him made. On one hand, as a fan of his work, I want to respect his wishes, especially because this could negatively impact his mental health. However, I think Will Wood should be remembered, and his music and talent should be commemorated here. Again, apologies if this isn't the appropriate place to put this, I just think it's a dilemma we should think about. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Smoltran (talk • contribs)
- If Will requests to have no Wikipedia article about him, then it should not exist, especially since this article includes some information that (for lack of some better words) should not matter such as his sexuality.
- In all situations, please do not make something that goes against his, or anybody's boundaries no matter what.
- Please respect his wishes, thank you. Eyeism (talk) 17:56, 27 April 2021 (UTC)
I have some mixed feelings too; I started the article and might not have if I'd known he was opposed. However, an encyclopedia is intended to provide notable information—even notably information that some people might prefer to keep private. If the article is well sourced from other secondary material, it doesn't necessarily matter whether the subject of the article wants the info here or not. NoahB (talk) 19:38, 29 June 2021 (UTC)
I agree with NoahB here. Although on one hand it is his life and he might wish to keep it private, but as he is a significant person I think it's better we keep the article unless he directly contacts wikipedia to say otherwise Maplermoment (talk) 15:27, 8 December 2021 (UTC)
Coming back here about 8 months later to say, yeah, I realize now the existence of his Wikipedia page and some of the information in it is a bit inevitable. I have mixed feelings about it aswell, as much as I'd like to protect Will's privacy here, as he grows in significance there's not much anyone can really do about it. My bad everyone, do try to be respectful though. Eyeism (talk) 21:30, 13 December 2021 (UTC)
Wood meets the Wikipedia notability guidelines meaning that an article about him can, and in my opinion should, exist, regardless of his wishes. That being said, Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons says that biographies should be written "conservatively and with due regard for the subject's privacy" and if Wood personally reaches out contesting any particular part of his biography then this of course should be seriously considered. All current information is accurately and reliably sourced meaning the article is arguably adequate in its present state. Asrieltheoracle (talk) 08:40, 27 May 2022 (UTC)
- To support what I said in that second sentence, this was the case with CGP Grey's article. Asrieltheoracle (talk) 08:47, 27 May 2022 (UTC)
About Will's Birthday
editI've recently decided to add Will's supposed birth date that somebody added into FamousBirthdays although there is no credible source about it, And not to add the entire edit war in the "Source" section of this article about people disagreeing with Will being born in 1993.
I've considered making the Birth Date tag just say "unknown" or "in the early to mid-1990s" due to this entire dillema.
So, Does anyone actually know Will's birth date? Makumatic (talk) 04:23, 16 November 2021 (UTC)
- If there is not a reliable source we just don't include it. Greyjoy talk 20:57, 17 December 2021 (UTC)
Addition to discography
editWill Wood released the single Ferryman in collaboration with Shayfer James on August 19, 2022. Urthurao (talk) 08:31, 28 August 2022 (UTC)
- I added this awhile ago. I also added Wealth & Hellness. :) HistoriananicLikesWW (talk) 19:17, 21 February 2024 (UTC)
Borderline personality disorder
editI know that this was once part of the article and was removed for being a slanderous claim - however Wood clearly mentions that he suffers from Borderline personality disorder in this clip (from 1:35 to 3:22)
https://youtube.com/watch?v=0btYd0PkcXY
Is this enough to justify adding it to the article? JDBauby (talk) 22:34, 28 August 2022 (UTC)
- Sorry for the late reply, but I think it would be fine per WP:ABOUTSELF. Firestar464 (talk) 05:42, 4 January 2023 (UTC)

Please remove his real name, he has always stated that he wishes to keep it secret. 194.103.31.55 (talk) 08:54, 16 May 2023 (UTC)
- Done I've removed the name, as the only sourcing was primary and it is a WP:BLPPRIVACY violation. Consider this the discussion requested on the talk page in the hidden comment I also removed. I did not open a discussion ahead of time as BLP violations should be removed immediately, and inclusion of content requires consensus before restoring, per WP:BLPRESTORE. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 11:13, 16 May 2023 (UTC)
- his real name is available in the download of the album "everything is a lot" on bandcamp and has been since it was released. between that, the copyright page, and it being credited on early releases on *spotify*, i do not believe it should be a "secret" Bradyargo (talk) 17:05, 16 July 2023 (UTC)

Add “He can also do a front flip from a standing position.” to the first paragraph on his page, as per his request in the Life in the World to Come podcast episode titled ‘Stay Worried’ at 23 minutes in. 2605:8D80:400:9CC0:C016:D50D:13B4:3B06 (talk) 16:57, 16 May 2023 (UTC)

Discography section
editA friend on discord was talking about Wills wiki being changed from the podcast but I guess the jokes have been removed but its now locked with a lot of wrong infor that some seems in bad intention based on the edit history comments. His discography section should only include things under the Will Wood name and not include nonserious highschool bands and things he did as a minor. They don't count as genuine career things and basically all of those are nonmonotized. Also one of the listings on his discography is known to be a huge trauma trigger to him and was dug up through personal information by stalkers and people who have caused him harm. It wasnt something he ever made public. I think he even mentioned once one person escalated to criminal behavior. He talked about it briefly not by name on his last livestream and said its really damaged his mental health. Even without that keeping his privacy, safety and mental health in mind, he was a minor and this is the page for "Will Wood". I cant remove it myself and I heard this is how you bring it up to the group or something so i thought I would try it this way. Radioactivem0ths (talk) 18:55, 20 May 2023 (UTC)
- Even without any privacy issues, instances of abuse, or possible bad intentions, (although there is indeed an online crew fixated on unofficial recordings who have been super abusive about it) if you track down those recordings they definitely don't belong in an artist's discography. They're a mishmash of mostly goof-off laptop mic recordings from kids in their parents basement, then a couple of home demos not intended for publication, some recordings from local shows, and a school project. They're all just soundcloud posts, definitely not albums or EPs. Putting that in the discography would be like putting an actor's childhood YouTube channel in his filmography; even if everything is definitely kosher and well-intended it still doesn't make sense.
- Side thought: AVE is weird, their Bandcamp is missing names in the credits, so idk what that means for citations. The Stereosexuals seems finished enough where it wouldn't be totally crazy to include it, but even then I feel like a musician's wikipedia discography should include the things they officially released, sold copies of, etc. If we want to say there were bands in high school sure, but all the soundcloud uploads and basement demos etc. cluttering up the discography doesn't make sense. 174.166.207.154 (talk) 15:40, 11 June 2023 (UTC)
- He at least sold A Demonstrative Manifesto on iTunes and on CD, there is abundant evidence of this. I own a copy of the A Verbal Equinox album on CD purchased straight from the vocalist Cheska and it is odd to pretend these things never existed. Also, older archived versions of the AVE Bandcamp page feature correct credits. You would be surprised at the name that is there.
- Will himself said in a livestream that he used to go by the name William Sunshine. I would love to know how it is considered "dug up through personal information by stalkers" when it was still available on Amazon Music at that time. Bradyargo (talk) 17:20, 16 July 2023 (UTC)
members
editI noticed under members it states that Ben Scardo is a former member of the Tapeworms, when in fact Ben Scardo is the deadname[1] of current bassist Vater Boris, as they are the same person

Bipolar?
editIn the section that talks about his mental illness it states bipolar, i'm pretty sure he mentioned having BPD but i'm not sure about bipolar. Tvgirl4ever (talk) 14:09, 18 January 2024 (UTC)
- @Tvgirl4ever The source clearly states that he was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. Bunbunning (talk) 21:35, 27 April 2024 (UTC)
Other names
editWill Wood appears to have gone by the names Marvin Edward MatchStyx, William J Colligan, William Sunshine, and Jimmy Mushrooms in the past and been in a band called The Wet Jockeys. Can someone dig up some reliable sources and add them to the article along with any notable info about his earlier songs? Here are a few informal leads:

- I think this article should be restricted to the current Will Wood as his older projects are irrelevant and could be a violation of privacy. 88.30.7.231 (talk) 06:46, 17 May 2024 (UTC)
- Yeah I think putting that on wikipedia is the equivalent of putting someone's mom's video of his high school talent show on wikipedia. I think one of those things is literally that. 2601:8C:4B7F:BC40:75E3:8A52:3565:4305 (talk) 00:05, 4 July 2024 (UTC)
- I doubt any reliable sources exist for this info, William Joseph Colligan is listed as his real name on Discogs. Bunbunning (talk) 13:21, 27 May 2024 (UTC)
- The name William Colligan is in the credits booklet for Everything Is A Lot. Those other names can be found in archived versions of the A Verbal Equinox Bandcamp page. Since you mentioned Discogs, you should look at the edit histories for pages such as Will Wood, William Sunshine, and William Joseph Colligan, as most of the history surrounding Will's earlier music was discussed there. I'm certain that sources for all of those can be found, but just not Wikipedia eligible ones. Either way, it's still correct information. AluminumOrGlass (talk) 21:16, 3 July 2024 (UTC)
"Public Image" Section and "Personal Life" section?
editHey, I don't know enough about wikipedia to feel confident just making the edit, or even try to do something like, substantial but I think the public image section and the personal life section are a little weird? The first half of the public image section is basically just a rephrasing of the first half of the personal life section, and the second half of it is definitely like true but doesn't seem to deserve a whole section.
The personal life section talks about how little is known about his personal life, and it says that what's been written about his personal life is untrustworthy, and then actually just talks about his public image instead kind of? Then part of it sort of gets reiterated in the public image section, only including that and a mention of how one track on The Normal Album was apparently controversial? (idk if it was actually controversial and not just viral) and maybe that belongs in the releases section?
Just a thought!!! 2601:8C:4B7F:BC40:75E3:8A52:3565:4305 (talk) 00:16, 4 July 2024 (UTC)

Remaster?
editWill Wood has stated live on Instagram that the upcoming album is not a remaster of The Normal Album, but a new version. I feel that one of the paragraphs should be changed to show this. I can’t give a link because the source is only available on YouTube, which is blacklisted, however if you search it out you’ll see that it is Will Wood directly saying it. 2A02:C7C:7B32:1B00:ACC5:7D49:6D00:81CE (talk) 14:58, 3 August 2024 (UTC)

Will Wood (musician) → Will Wood – WP:PTOPIC. Of every name listed at William Wood, a majority have amassed under one thousand pageviews this year. Below are some statistics about names on the page:
- Will Wood (musician) - The most viewed page from the William Wood disambiguation with 120k this year. This is consistent to 164k from last year and 150k the year before.
- Merlyn Wood - The second-most viewed page with 15k from this year. Merlyn doesn't refer to himself as Will Wood, so the name is not in common usage (1:8 with the musician).
- William P. Wood - The third-most viewed page with 8k from this year. 6k of those views are from an abrupt spike in late-July, which is unnatural for a 19th century politician (1:15 with the musician).
- USS William M. Wood (DD-715) - The fourth-most viewed page with 2k from this year. 1:60 with the musician.
- Will Wood (footballer) - The only other name on the page that uses Will over William. 1:70 with the musician.
Noting all of this, the musician is by far the most common usage of the name Will Wood. Koopastar (talk) 23:56, 31 August 2024 (UTC)
- agreed! his website is the first option for "will wood" on google and the google wikipedia embed is seen as this article. honestly dont know why this hasn't been done already, he's got just over a million monthly spotify listeners, that should count as notable enough to get his own page. astral ▪️ he/him ▪️ >:3 19:37, 2 September 2024 (UTC)

Allegedly band member left?
editIt has been allegedly announced that Vater Boris (allegedly they are non-binary and might go by an another name) had left the band due to personal life. Should the band members section be updated? 158.99.18.13 (talk) 12:09, 13 November 2024 (UTC)
