Notes

edit
  • Add emdash to lead.   Done
  • I don't think William P. Trimble is actually his COMMONNAME? It looks like "William Pitt Trimble" is what appeared in sources the most. I propose the article be moved to that title.
  • We should expand the lead a little. We should mention the island at least. That's his biggest claim to fame.   Done
  • In the lead, I think we can get rid of "mostly". The article doesn't say he did anything anywhere else.   Done
  • Link places in infobox.   Done
  • Spell out states in infobox.   Done
  • According to ref 2, it looks like he attended the University of Cincinnati and then the University of Cincinnati College of Law   Done
  • Add Category:University of Cincinnati alumni and Category:University of Cincinnati College of Law alumni   Done
  • In regards to the 3 Seattle categories, add 3 Kentucky categories for the same things.  Done
  • Add Category:20th-century American businesspeople, Category:20th-century American lawyers, and Category:20th-century American politicians   Done
  • Ref 1 says he was born in 1863 but ref 2 says Feb. 2, 1865.   Done
  • "In 1899 he was involved in a legal dispute" Comma after 1899.   Done
  • "Throughout his campaign he was " Comma after campaign   Done
  • "for the next year was" Add he after year   Done
  • "was regularly suggested as a candidate for other offices" It looks like those sources are only talking about one office (Senate)? What other offices was he considered for?   Done
  • "name did not ultimately appear on the ballot" The source cited for that says 1912 but I thought he was running in 1911?   Done
  • "subway system" I don't think the source actually says subway. It says "part subway" and some other stuff. Maybe change it to transit system? In the next paragraph you actually wrote transit.   Done
  • "serving on the cities' charter commission" That source doesn't say Seattle. It's from the Tacoma paper. Just double checking.   Done
  • "the Rhodes Medical Arts Building" Source just says Medical Arts Building. I'm not sure if Rhodes was in the name at the time or not?   Done
  • "In 1911, Trimble purchased Blake Island" The source says he already owned some of it? Thoughts?   Done
  • I think it should say that he renamed the island Trimble Island. From ref 1: "After acquiring the property, the Trimbles renamed it Trimble Island".   Done
  • I saw this in ref 26: "But things went badly for the Trimbles in 1929: First, Trimble lost much of his wealth in the October stock-market crash that triggered the Great Depression. In 1936, in an effort to recoup some of his fortune, Trimble traded the island to the" Thoughts?   Done
  • "In 1909 he became" Comma after 1909   Done

Very nice work. Great research. WikiOriginal-9 (talk) 09:24, 21 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

Logging that I've seen this and get this feedback implemented in the next couple of days! Thanks so much for the review. ThadeusOfNazereth(he/him)Talk to Me! 12:19, 21 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
It seems to always be that I end up having time right after noticing feedback, so we're done ahead of schedule! I've implemented all of this with a couple of notes detailed below:
  • There doesn't seem to be a "Politicans from Kentucky" or a "Lawyers from Kentucky" category. I don't know if I somehow missed it but they didn't show up in HotCat or in the search.
  • I implemented the more specific birthdate from Ref 2 since it was a contemporary source. I can also add a comment saying there's a discrepancy if you want.
  • I removed the election date - The gubernatorial election was in 1912, he only announced in 1911.
  • The full source for the charter commission clarifies that it is in Seattle, I updated the clipping to include that context.
  • I rephrased the first line of the Blake Island section to clarify that he had purchased some land before but that we don't know WHEN or HOW MUCH he bought.
  • I added a line about the stock market crash to the end of the main career section, right before Blake Island.
Again, thanks so much for the feedback! I'm always amazed at how many silly mistakes become obvious with another set of eyes :) ThadeusOfNazereth(he/him)Talk to Me! 16:15, 21 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
I made a few uncontroversial minor fixes to the article myself. Can you take a look at the two unresolved notes above? (moving the article to William Pitt Trimble and the "other offices" note) Also, in regards to Blake Island, the sources don't technically say he purchased portions in the 1900s. He could have bought some in the 1890s technically. Do you think revising that part to the following would work: "In 1911, Trimble, who already owned part of Blake Island in the Puget Sound, purchased the island's remaining land and became the sole owner, renaming the island as "Trimble Island." WikiOriginal-9 (talk) 19:59, 21 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
Also, yeah, let's go ahead and add a note about the birth date discrepancy WikiOriginal-9 (talk) 20:33, 21 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
I have requested the move at Wp:Requested Moves as a redirect exists at that title. I also updated the phrasing to what you suggested, fixed "other offices," and added a note. Thanks for your edits, especially fixing the birth date everywhere I missed! ThadeusOfNazereth(he/him)Talk to Me! 23:15, 21 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
Great work! The title is the only thing left, then we can pass this. Also, if either you or I had page mover rights, we could have moved it ourselves. I used to have it but I was inactive for awhile so I lost it. I think I am going to request it again. WikiOriginal-9 (talk) 02:49, 22 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

All points have been addressed. Passing the article. Nice work! WikiOriginal-9 (talk) 01:04, 29 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
