Deleted material possibly worth sourcing and restoring
editThe following was deleted for being unsourced: "Despite never reaching his full potential, Thorne is widely regarded as one of the game's most natural talents, and is one of only a handful of players to compile over 150 century breaks throughout his career, an impressive feat considering that Thorne played out much of his career on tables with slower and thicker cloths than those of today, meaning that they were less suited for big breaks." — SMcCandlish [talk] [cont] ‹(-¿-)› 18:01, 2 June 2007 (UTC)

DoB
editThe Guardian has his DoB as 4 May. https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2020/jun/17/willie-thorne-obituary 90.255.70.241 (talk) 18:10, 30 August 2022 (UTC)
- This is a pickle, Eurosport and mean search hits have 4 March. Who do we trust? ---Lilach5 (לילך5) discuss 19:19, 30 August 2022 (UTC)
- The correct answer is 4 March, and clearly the Guardian is in error. (This has been known to happen.) Thorne's birth was registered in the first quarter of 1954. Ghmyrtle (talk) 20:57, 30 August 2022 (UTC)
- Indeed. All other sources (WST, Snooker scene etc) all say March. Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 21:37, 30 August 2022 (UTC)
