Fautré biography

[edit]

@PARAKANYAA

hey there

Could you explain why you reverted all my recent edits? All the information is sourced. ; Athena0018 (talk) 17:34, 4 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

It wasn't sourced at all. Where are you getting this information? Reminder, we have very strict WP:BLP rules/ PARAKANYAA (talk) 17:35, 4 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
And now, the sources either don't mention him, don't say what we're citing them for, are unreliable, or are still uncited. PARAKANYAA (talk) 18:01, 4 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
Also, what is the relevance of singling out two members of the group, with sources that don't mention Fautre or the group in question? Is this not a WP:COATRACK? PARAKANYAA (talk) 20:09, 5 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

Fautré biography 2

[edit]

@PARAKANYAA

Hey there You have just deleted the paragraphs I wrote, simply stating: "we cannot use legal documents on articles about living people".

What legal documents ?

Would you explain why it's useless to list the names of the members of this association?

At the same time, you reintroduced a problematic sentence presenting Mr. Fautré as "a human rights activist" though the source is a friend of his. The problem had been highlighted by @Gurkubondinn.  Preceding unsigned comment added by Athena0018 (talkcontribs) 02:20, 23 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

Miviludes is an agency of the French government and the source you cited was a document from them. Anything from Miviludes cannot be used in this fashion, it's like citing the FBI, it would violate WP:BLPPRIMARY.
The other sources don't mention Fautre, so are inappropriate to write material in his article, or are WP:UNDUE uses of primary sources to WP:COATRACK on unrelated information; we cannot use sources not about Fautre to write about Fautre, that is WP:SYNTH. You also introduced an unsourced paragraph in a BLP. None of the sources were appropriate for a BLP. To say anything about Fautre, we need to have reliable secondary sources about him. PARAKANYAA (talk) 02:26, 23 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
Since when is it forbidden to quote a gouvernemental report ?
What you mention about WP:SYNTH is pretty ambiguous, and the source I quoted does mention Fauré. Athena0018 (talk) 02:37, 23 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
When the person is a living person, since about 2009. When they are dead, or if the article is about a non-person (small groups also count as people for this policy) then it is fine. But legal documents cannot be used on living people's articles.
Why would you add material to an article about Fautre that is not about Fautre? PARAKANYAA (talk) 02:45, 23 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
Adding material that is not directly quoting the subject of a page is very common + the source I quoted refers to Fautré.
Would you explain why it's useless to list the names of the members of this association? Athena0018 (talk) 02:52, 23 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
Sourcing mistakes are very common, but so are typos, does not mean they should be done, WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS.
Because WP:UNDUE, this is not an article about those people; also, there's dozens of people listed on that page. Why are you selecting those handful specifically, of the many people listed there? How do you know those are the same people listed? Why those specifically? PARAKANYAA (talk) 02:57, 23 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
It's not because the article is not about the staff of HRWI that they don't need to be mentionned. I selected notable people, official representatives and/or who have WP pages. There is no reason to delete this paragraph and I’m going to suggest that some administrators take a look at this question and this page. Athena0018 (talk) 03:06, 23 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
No one who you added had Wikipedia pages except for Regis Dericquebourg and Pierre Rigoulot, scholars; why mention Johannus Noot, Alexander Verkhovsky, Jarred Lopez, and Oliver Pahnecke, instead of any of the other dozens of people mentioned? They are totally non-notable. Also, how do we even know they are the same people as the sources you mentioned? The sources don't say anything about them being part of this group; they could merely have the same name. The sources you used to cite this section are also irrelevant to Fautre and are WP:UNDUE for his biography. PARAKANYAA (talk) 03:10, 23 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
WHRI is an NGO / lobby dedicated to promoting religious freedom. Thus, it seems interesting and of encyclopedic value to see which religions its members belong to, don't you think so ?
How do we even know they are the same people as the sources I mentioned ?
J. Noot is a member of both HRWI and the Gerard Noodt Foundation for Religious Freedom, which has been founded by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It is the same person. Alexander Verkhovsky from SOVA closely works with HRWI. It's the same person. Same for Jarred Lopez. Athena0018 (talk) 03:31, 23 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
No? Why would it be, if reliable sources don't? Why would it ever be relevant to list that for non-notable staff members?
How do you know that? He's not listed as J. Noot, he's listed as H. Noot.
Your first link appears to be some sort of spam site. I don't see how "The Benefits Of Professional Conveyancing Services For Geelong Homeowners" proves your point. The other two, well now that's at least some proof that it's probably the same person for those 2, but they're non-notable people who we should not even mention per WP:BLPNAME, much less considerations of due weight. PARAKANYAA (talk) 03:39, 23 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
"How do you know that?" : https://www.iclrs.org/blurb/gerard-noodt-foundation-established-in-europe/
If an organization works as a lobby for new religious mouvements in Europe's main political institution, it is relevant to know what mouvements it stands for, don't you think ? Athena0018 (talk) 03:48, 23 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
Why would we use sources in an article about Fautre that do not mention Fautre? How is that useful for the purpose of building an article about Fautre?
Stands for = personal affiliations of non-notable people, when no reliable secondary source makes the connection? No, not at all. PARAKANYAA (talk) 04:21, 23 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
