LGBT?

edit

Is it appropriate to categorize Xavin as a homosexual? He is a male masquerading as a female so that he may be with another female (who is a lesbian).

No one ever said he was a homosexual. The LGBT category is also for transsexuals, and since Xavin is a male who has a adopted a female form, I think that category fits. Breakaway 06:23, 2 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

In YA/RU #1 Xavin seems to have adopted a black male form, only taking the female form to comfort Karolina.

"For us, changing gender... ...is no different than changing hair color." -Xavin, Runaways #6. Xavin's statement indicates that a change between being male or female-- both socially and physically --is a casual matter that he does not give much serious consideration. Assuming that Brian K. Vaughan is an educated speaker of English, he most likely used the word "gender" because he meant gender. Lucky number 49 13:12, 3 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

That's speculation. --Chris Griswold () 15:33, 3 October 2006 (UTC)Reply
My statement about Vaughan? Yes, it is. Hence the word "assuming" with which I began the sentence. However, the rest of it is observable truths. The word gender is used, which has definitions which (although perhaps not universal) are broadly accepted by those who discuss related matters. Even if Vaughan did not intend it to have that meaning, his word choice has rendered it as such, and I'll stick by that until the next major retcon takes place. Whatever my belief in the matter, I would rather let readers make their own conclusions. --Chris Griswold () 17:37, 3 October 2006 (UTC)Reply
Then perhaps it would be best to include a short section mentioning the matter in as objective terms as are possible? I would suggest that the quotation in question be referenced, as well as perhaps mentioning other instances of Skrull assuming a sex different from their natural one (although that would perhaps be better placed within the article on Skrulls). EDIT: Forgot to sign that one- Lucky number 49 17:44, 3 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

You call using "he/she" a subjective manner? That's so insulting. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.132.142.118 (talk) 11:43, 28 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Gender Issue

edit

The final sentence states that "During an argument with Karolina, Xavin loses control and changes form into her female form, establishing that Xavin's true form is a female, making Karolina happy.[5][20]" However these citations in no way support what is being said about her true form being female. Citation 5 is an issue of runaways and there was an argument and Xavin did turn female but it didn't establish Xavin's true form. Citation 20, which is a message board quoting a blog from Ramos does not mention any of this and simply talks about Xavin going back and forth. I suggest this last sentence be removed because the part about her true form being female is speculation at best. -Graveyardkiss (talkcontribs) 08:37, 16 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Xavincover.jpg

edit

Image:Xavincover.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Source?

edit

Is there any source to attribute to the statement that Xavin is going to betray the Runaways to the skrulls in the upcoming Secret Invasion tie-in? I hadn't heard anything about it and was a tad sore at the spoiler, since the comic isn't out yet, and while I do know I check these pages at my own peril, I did notice that there isn't an attributed source to it, which is a fairly big deal as it would have large ramifications for the character. ArchangelX777 (talk) 11:20, 31 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

The marvel publishing catalog, in there preview for issue 3 states Xavin betrays the group. I doubt it though, as what happened in issue 1 (pretending to betray and all). I think we should just wait for the comic to come out. Doeswhateveraspidercan666 (talk) 17:40, 28 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

...aaand it's incorrect. Incidentally, I think all the male references should be changed to female, since while, as a Skrull, Xavin apparently identified as asexual, Joss Whedon's run established that the female form had become her true one, and also the "previously" sections of the Secret Invasion Runaways/Young Avengers refer to Xavin with female pronouns. 96.246.3.250 (talk) 03:07, 17 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Pronouns

edit

I reverted two anonymous edits by 118.208.229.208 (diff) that changed the article's pronouns to ze, zhir, and so on.

While the editor probably meant well, Wikipedia should stick to standard English pronouns (Manual of Style), and follow the source material's usage. --Piet Delport (talk) 11:07, 26 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
