Merger
editNo one started a section, so I'll start. If anything I think the merger should go the other way. This article is about Yates racing. Yates is the minority party in this merger. Newman/Haas is the majority party saving Yates in this case. Merge the other way then, rename the Newman/Haas/Lanigan article to Yates/Newman/Haas/Lanigan... It Is Still NHL
editYou need two seperate article, recreate the NHL Racing page
It is still NHL for Champ Car. Yates didn't buy into the Champ Car side
You people need to fix what you changed. SurfaceUnits 01:12, 31 July 2007 (UTC)
- Yates did not "buy" into anything. It was a merger. Both teams are now one combined team. Their NASCAR and Champ Car operations may be seperate... but they are still one combined team. Gateman1997 04:06, 31 July 2007 (UTC)
Yates should not really be mentioned alongside the Champ Car team of N/H/L. Yates is involved, currently, only in the NASCAR side of the business merger and not the Champ Car. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bxp101 (talk • contribs)
- I think this press release says differently. There's really nothing to debate. --D-Day 21:47, 4 August 2007 (UTC)
- The press relase says that Yates/Newman/Haas/Lanigan Racing is a partnership in NASCAR’s Nextel Cup and Busch Series. Yates has nothing to do with the Champ Car team, the Champ Car tesm is still called Newman/Haas/Lanigan Racing. Chris Ssk 11:18, 13 August 2007 (UTC)
- Agreed, how do you officially propose that? Duds 2k 19:18, 18 August 2007 (UTC)
- I am not sure, but it really needs to be 2 articles. Yates has never and most likely will never have anything to do with the CCWS team. Right now it is two seperate teams who happen to have a few of the same owners. Fisha695 00:19, 21 August 2007 (UTC)

The result of the proposal was Move Nothing to do. Duja►
Yates/Newman/Haas/Lanigan Racing → Newman/Haas/Lanigan Racing — The merger was officially cancelled with Robert Yates retirement on 9/7/07. The Robert Yates Racing team will now be known as Yates Racing and is owned by Robert Yates son Doug after this season. All aspects of the merger are off per http://sports.yahoo.com/nascar/news;_ylt=AhykWnPNiHT6MRod4ipbw4nov7YF?slug=ap-nascar-yates-retirement&prov=ap&type=lgns/ —JohnnyBGood t c VIVA! 00:49, 8 September 2007 (UTC)

Seems to have been done by cut and paste. A mess. Andrewa 10:17, 14 September 2007 (UTC)

Sorry, I archived the discussion before I checked out the state of affairs. It seems that the pages were merged once and then unmerged, and that combined histories of Yates/Newman/Haas/Lanigan Racing and Newman/Haas/Lanigan Racing make the "true" edit history of the latter. If that's correct, there's no further administrative action required? Merging edit histories is not a necessity, and may easily create a confusing combination. Duja► 08:01, 19 September 2007 (UTC)
