Notes

edit

There's no comment about the lengt of the track, should be added. Furthermore, I think it's appropriate to add a reference to the installation of the first automatic lifting boom barriers to be used in Britain along the line. --Dionysos1988 (talk) 17:25, 7 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Have you any detail and reference that could be used? Keith D (talk) 21:52, 7 March 2010 (UTC)Reply
No, unfortunately I don't. I couldn't find anything via Google, and I don't have any printed literature about that. But I think there should be some...--Dionysos1988 (talk) 23:31, 7 March 2010 (UTC)Reply
The wikipedia article on Warthill includes mention of the barriers and "Railway Signs and Signals of Great Britain". and "BRITISH RAILWAYS 1920 - 1970"., although not primary sources, both mention the installation. And here's a picture - [1] Scillystuff (talk) 00:03, 8 March 2010 (UTC)Reply
Ahha, a primary source - Report on Level Crossing Protection based on a visit to the Netherlands, Belgian and French Railways by officers of the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation and of the British Transport Commission (PDF). Oh, great! Thank you. That's exactly the reference we need. I'll paste it into the German article. :-) --Dionysos1988 (talk) 00:31, 8 March 2010 (UTC) PS: There's only missing the date of 1953, but I think that's negligible.--Dionysos1988 (talk) 00:41, 8 March 2010 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. I have added the reference here and at the Warthill page. Have you any idea of the copyright status of the sabre images as I cannot locate any mention on the website, would be good if they were usable. Keith D (talk) 02:24, 8 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Quote (removed from the article)

However documents published in 2006 as part of the suggest that new routes into and around these existing built up areas have been identified and safeguarded alongside potential sites for new stations. (Specifically See Section 5.5 : "Protecting New Transport Schemes" and Appendix 2 : Maps 5 and 6)

In the version I can see - it doesn't - the lines go around like in the 2004 report.. ?? Prof.Haddock (talk) 03:55, 9 July 2014 (UTC)Reply
