Rename article to "Yuzu (..."
editThe article seems to be only about the Yuzu emulator, so the article title should be changed to match that. Maybe "Yazu (software)" or "Yazu (emulator)"? — GhostInTheMachine talk to me 09:23, 26 September 2022 (UTC)
- @GhostInTheMachine: Why would we rename the article to "Yazu (..."? The Emulator's name is "Yuzu". ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 13:16, 26 September 2022 (UTC)

- I'm confused. It was moved to "Nintendo Switch Emulators" and then moved back because hte move was contested. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 13:23, 26 September 2022 (UTC)
- Just a crossover of the timelines I posted after the first rename, but before the restore. I did not see the discussion at WP:RM/T. Nothing to worry about. All is well — GhostInTheMachine talk to me 13:54, 26 September 2022 (UTC)

"Is" or "was"
editSo it seems like a bit of an edit war on whether to say Yuzu was an emulator or isan emulator is going right now. Personally I am inclined to use "is" because you can still use it if you had downloaded it prior to the settlement with Nintendo and how "is" used for articles on other defunct emulators like Bleem!. Breaking Bad is a TV show, despite new episodes not being made.
Windows 95 is an operating system, despite having been discontinued for decades.
Yuzu is still an emulator. It's just not being distributed. --Golbez (talk) 23:10, 4 March 2024 (UTC)
- I think Yuzu will be forked. It is just on hiatus, but for software of course since it is out of support but still somewhere archived, it exists User73663828 (talk) 04:20, 5 March 2024 (UTC)
- MOS:TENSE is what everyone should be citing here:
By default, write articles in the present tense, including those covering works of fiction
(emphasis added) — and products or works that have been discontinued. Generally, use past tense only for past events, and for subjects that are dead or no longer meaningfully exist. Use past tense for articles about periodicals no longer produced, with common-sense exceptions.Locke Cole • t • c 00:47, 6 March 2024 (UTC)
Too many mentions of the lawsuit?
editThe article mentions Yuzu was shut down by Nintendo 3 times. I feel like the mention in the 'Features' section should be removed since it's not really a 'feature' to have discontinued development, the other mentions of it make sense though. DaRealLando123 (talk) 00:09, 9 March 2024 (UTC)
Removal of Successor section
editStraight to the point, suyu is an unofficial fork and is not the successor of yuzu. The yuzu team does not endorse this emulator and, frankly, its inclusion here reads like an advertisement for the fork.
Articles about forks of emulators should stick to the Emulation General Wiki, not on a Wikipedia page about the core emulator. If we are allowing one fork to be mentioned on the official Wikipedia page for an emulator, then any fork in existence could come and use the official Wikipedia page to advertise themselves.
If the mention of suyu is to be kept, I'd rather it be under a "Emulator fork" section, rather than "Successor". Purely because suyu is not the successor of yuzu, at all. It is an unofficial fork, like lots of other unofficial forks of yuzu that have been around for years. It being labelled as this is misleading. Sakuramipha (talk) 20:47, 4 April 2024 (UTC)
- I disagree. While indeed after takedowns of open source software there are always numerous forks, eventually will be just one or two that most developers migrate to, and they become the "real successors". In the case of Yuzu, the only forks still in active development (that I'm aware of) are Suyu and Torzu (which I've added a mention of). Another thing that makes these two specific forks notable is the fact that they both try to actively evade Nintendo by anonymizing themselves - Suyu self-hosts everything and uses Cloudflare and DNS anonymizing services. Apparently they also avoid US-based hosting, so they don't have to comply with the DMCA. Torzu takes things even a step further, with hosting everything in the Tor network, making it extremely difficult to track and take down. NiQ (talk) 10:32, 4 October 2024 (UTC)
Broken archive link
editThe internet archive link that's under Repository in the infobox appears to lead to the message "Sorry. This URL has been excluded from the Wayback Machine." on the Internet Archive. -GeniusWorkbench4622 15:54, 24 November 2024 (UTC)
