List of ghosts

edit

Does anyone else think the list of ghosts doesn't really have a place on this article? It doesn't add a whole lot to the content, and it's more like something that belongs to a game FAQ (it even contains locations). I think it's way too large to be kept here. Opinions?--Kaonashi 16:44, 17 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

I agree: it's quite excessive and doesn't really belong here. A much shorter list of major named characters (some of whom happen to be ghosts) would work, but this list isn't useful. -Sean Curtin 01:19, 18 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

Alright then. In that case, I'll remove it. Like you said, it doesn't look useful at all. If anyone disagrees, discuss here, please.--Kaonashi 01:33, 21 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

Why remove accurate information? /Grillo 16:14, 24 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

There is no demand. No use for game FAQ information here. Read our discussion.--Kaonashi 01:36, 25 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

Screamers

edit

Someone should mention the fact that the screenshot from fatal frame is used in more than a few screamers on the net.

It was also used in the historical first screamer "Kikia", by Netspooky —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.78.207.122 (talk) 04:05, 5 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Bloodlines

edit

Research has shown theres actualy a very large interconectivity within the storylines of all three instalments. BeyondTheLens.com has a family tree. Perhaps this should be mentioned somewhere?

Fatal Frame Sweepstakes

edit

On [1] there's an old page to "Win a Camera!". The contest ended long ago, and therefore has no further details. Would someone care to enlighten me about said sweepstakes? --Isequals 01:00, 4 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Pretty much it was an old old contest where fans could submit their best ghost stories. The winner won a model of the Camera Obscura from the first game. It was a girl, I forget her name though. It was the only real contest Tecmo USA had concerning the games. (Tecmo Japan has had a few contests since then.) For the Xbox version of FF2, fans submitted pictures of themselves to be used as extra ghosts, the winners took the places of the creators and famitsu editors in the Japanese Xbox version. 65.185.9.61 13:24, 18 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Creating new articles for the series

edit

It'd be nice to start creating new articles for Fatal Frame II and Fatal Frame III. I'm not sure if the "shortened version" of Fatal Frame is any good, so changes are welcome. --Remy Suen 15:53, 21 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

There is certainly enough information to expand the sections for each game into their own article. I think enough noteworthy information exists to keep the exisiting article, but adding to the individual game sections would make them article-length for sure. There is a lot that can be added (about the rituals, the backstory, info about individual ghosts) if someone has the time. 65.112.195.162 19:28, 25 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Merging

edit

Instead of having one paragraph for the first fatal frame game in this article why not merge the "Fatal Frame (video game)" article into this one.

Scorpy42 12:44, 23 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

I think it's good to have both a separate article for individual games plus one article on the combined series. My personal opinion, of course - at this point the information may be a bit on the thin side to warrant separate articles.

Movie

edit

The movie is by all the information can dig up, not in production. IMDB, which had it a while back does not have it on their site and movies.com does not recognize it either. Searches I have tried have turned up sites that have it haven't been updated on the movie for two years or more. I can only imagine Dreamworks, which I believe was supposed to produce it, dropped it from their production line for some unknown reason but its just speculation. Someone please find some information on the movie and update the section about the movie.

Character Page

edit

I think we need a new page for Fatal Frame Characters. Miku, Mio, and Mayu's are simply separated, so I think we need to get it altogether.Yamiza 13:15, 12 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Yes, these should probably be collapsed into a single article which describes all important characters in the game. --Slordak 13:48, 12 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Camera Obscura

edit

what kind of camera is the Camera Obscura? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 71.101.148.49 (talk) 21:41, 13 April 2007 (UTC).Reply

{{spoiler}}

Camera Obscura was invented by Kunihiko Asou. The concept is that to seal the Gateway to Hell, a sacred mirror is required which has been broken and its pieces lost at many places. The last objective of Miku Hinasaki (player in FF1) is to gather these pieces and put them together so that the Gateway to Hell is sealed and Malice is sealed therein forever. The last piece of the mirror is actually found INSIDE THE CAMERA OBSCURA, near the end of the game. Henceit is reasonable to assume that the CAMERA OBSCURA is able to inflict damage on ghosts/spirits due to a piece of the SACRED MIRROR being held inside it.

Atmosphere details

edit

These are more of a literary analysis of the pre-game thought and should be a secondary article linking to the main page.

No, they don't belong on wiki at all, it is original research. ParjayTalk 00:13, 10 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Correlation Chart

edit

The whole purpose of the chart is to give the viewer an instant answer to his/her queries. So I think it should not be minimised but should be available full scale on the main page.

I'm not even sure this chart has a proper fair use rationale, it should be removed. ParjayTalk 00:13, 10 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

I don't think the current chart should be used. Just glancing over it, even, I see many errors (some of which are actually quite important; for instance, the Hell Gate is sealed by the mirror in FF1, the Demon Mouth is a totally different thing and misspelled anyway, Akito was NEVER married to Kyouka, there are many typos such as "ramaining" and "Miuki", the FF2 Kurosawa family and Rei have absolutely no hinted relation at all other than surname, several other minor things too but I shall stop here).
Kounagihishouka (talk) 23:46, 3 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Color intent

edit

The atmosphere section states: "The color white symbolizes one of the themes of the story - virginity, or in terms of a less sexually-oriented word, purity." Are we absolutely sure about this? Seems to me that the color white was more associated with its actual interpretation in Japanese culture: death. (As in, burial kimonos.)

I'm inclined to change this, or at least add a mention. -EarthRise33 22:41, 9 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Again, all original research. Unless there is reliable sources that state these things, all of it should be removed. ParjayTalk 00:13, 10 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

BCL should be linked, few of the informations provided are from BCL? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Yamiza (talkcontribs) 13:07, 25 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

No, it shouldn't be added as BCL is a fan site and doesn't meet wiki's external links policy. ParjayTalk 15:05, 25 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Even though most of the information that's been put on the wiki was taken word for word off of BCL?65.185.9.61 00:29, 9 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

I've taken off the link, since the article wasn't online anymore. Zandra[Me ?] —Preceding unsigned comment added by 93.16.16.66 (talk) 10:43, 31 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Director's Cut

edit

Since we mentioned FF2's Director's Cut in a separate section, technically Fatal Frame 1 xbox version is also a director's cut (special edition, as it's called in Japan), but we don't have a separate section so far in FF1's main article (or in the series article, naturally) and perhaps we should. Fatal Frame III-2: Kurushime

edit

Somebody keeps re-adding information about this, but it's not real. It's not even really a rumour - more like a hoax, since all the information about it is coming from one Facebook page. Makoto Shibata said on Twitter that he'd never heard of it and that the ad for it is fake. Spiralette (talk) 15:03, 6 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Himuro mansion, one of the places the game is said to be based on, redirects here, yet there is no mention of it in the article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 184.58.74.187 (talk) 18:39, 22 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Nintendo's supposed co-ownership/ownership of all future installments

edit

"While Tecmo Koei remains the sole owner of the Fatal Frame / Project Zero IP and franchise, Nintendo co-owns the rights to Fatal Frame IV, the Spirit Camera spin-off, Project Zero 2: Wii Edition, Fatal Frame V and all future installments of the series."

This was stated in the third paragraph, but the reference for this sentence is a link to a Project Zero 2 box art image that doesn't even work. How could this possibly claim that Nintendo owns all future installments of the series? Can anyone prove this? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.14.212.8 (talk) 00:26, 18 June 2015 (UTC)Reply
