Usage

Please note: This template should be transcluded ({{WikiProject Baseball}}) and not substituted (subst) because it employs conditional code. Transclusion also allows easy updating of all the Project's talk pages without having to edit thousands of pages.

Field descriptions

• class – valid values are listed in the custom class mask. See the project's quality scale for details. Setting an explicit value of NA is rarely necessary; for this, either leave |class= blank or omit the parameter.
• importance – valid values are: top, high, mid, low, na (case-insensitive). See the project's importance scale for details. Setting an explicit value of NA is rarely necessary; for this, either leave |importance= blank or omit the parameter.
• auto – This parameter is for the use of bots and indicates that the article has been automatically rated:
  • |auto=length – based on the length of the article
  • |auto=inherit – because one or more other projects use this class
  • |auto=yes (or |auto=stub), in conjunction with |class=stub – as Stub-Class because it uses a stub template
    • Use of the above values (or value combinations) with this parameter populates Category:Automatically assessed Baseball articles.
• attention – set |attention=yes if the article needs immediate attention from experienced editors. Use only if another parameter does not cover the need for attention; this should be used sparingly. It is strongly encouraged to also add a section to the talk page explaining what needs attention.
  • This parameter populates Category:Baseball articles needing attention.
• needs-infobox – set |needs-infobox=yes if the article needs an infobox. Remember that infoboxes are not suitable for all articles, and can overwhelm short articles.
  • This parameter populates Category:Baseball articles needing infoboxes.
• image – set |image=yes if the page needs images; otherwise leave blank.
  • This parameter populates Category:Baseball articles needing images.
• listas – This parameter, which is the equivalent of the DEFAULTSORT sortkey that should be placed on all biographical articles, is a sortkey for the article talk page (e.g. for Babe Ruth, use |listas=Ruth, Babe so that the talk page will show up in the R's and not the B's of the various assessment and administrative categories). This is important because it is one source used by those who set DEFAULTSORT on the article; consider also setting the DEFAULTSORT for the article when setting this parameter.   If the article is using {{WikiProject banner shell}} then it is preferable to add |listas= to that template instead of a project banner template. Putting the parameter on more than one template is not required.
• category – set |category=no if, and only if, a banner is being used for demonstration or testing purposes, to prevent unnecessary or undesirable categorization. Otherwise, omit this parameter.

The following parameters are task force specific and the following parameters are for task force specific assessment and only need to be added to the task force in use.

• oldtime – set |oldtime=yes if the article is supported by Old-time Baseball task force.
  • This parameter populates Category:Old-time Base Ball articles, and the relevant subcategory of Category:Old-time Base Ball articles by quality based upon the |class= parameter.
  • oldtime-importance (only used if |oldtime=yes is set; uses the same values as |importance=) – Importance rating within Old-time Baseball task force
    • This importance rating populates the relevant subcategory of Category:Old-time Base Ball articles by importance.
• littleleague – set |littleleague=yes if the article is supported by the Little League task force.
  • This parameter populates Category:Little League articles, and the relevant subcategory of Category:Little League articles by quality based upon the |class= parameter.
  • littleleague-importance (only used if |littleleague=yes is set; uses the same values as |importance=) – Importance rating within the Little League task force
    • This importance rating populates the relevant subcategory of Category:Little League articles by importance.
• australia – set |australia=yes if the article is supported by the Australian baseball task force.
  • This parameter populates Category:Australian baseball articles, and the relevant subcategory of Category:Australian baseball articles by quality based upon the |class= parameter.
  • australia-importance (only used if |australia=yes is set; uses the same values as |importance=) – Importance rating within the Australian baseball task force
    • This importance rating populates the relevant subcategory of Category:Australian baseball articles by importance.
• japan – set |japan=yes if the article is supported by the Japanese baseball task force.
  • This parameter populates Category:Japanese baseball articles, and the relevant subcategory of Category:Japanese baseball articles by quality based upon the |class= parameter.
  • japan-importance (only used if |japan=yes is set; uses the same values as |importance=) – Importance rating within the Japanese baseball task force

• korea – set |korea=yes if the article is supported by Korean baseball task force.
  • This parameter populates Category:Korean baseball articles, and the relevant subcategory of Category:Korean baseball articles by quality based upon the |class= parameter.
  • korea-importance (only used if |korea=yes is set; uses the same values as |importance=) – Importance rating within Korean baseball task force
    • This importance rating populates the relevant subcategory of Category:Korean baseball articles by importance.
• taiwan – set |taiwan=yes if the article is supported by Taiwanese baseball task force.
  • This parameter populates Category:Taiwanese baseball articles, and the relevant subcategory of Category:Taiwanese baseball articles by quality based upon the |class= parameter.

    • This importance rating populates the relevant subcategory of Category:Umpires articles by importance.

The following parameters are for project inclusion and only needed to be added if the project suits the article and the following parameters are for project specific assessment and only need to be added to the project in use.'

• college – set |college=yes if the article is supported by WikiProject College baseball.
  • This parameter populates Category:College baseball articles, and the relevant subcategory of Category:College baseball articles by quality based upon the |class= parameter.
  • college-importance (only used if |college=yes is set; uses the same values as |importance=) – Importance rating within WikiProject College baseball
