Summer Streets
- ... that Park Avenue in Manhattan has no traffic during three days in August because of New York City's Summer Streets program? Source: New York Times: "Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg announced on Monday that he will create a car-free zone on three Saturdays in August, along a 6.9-mile stretch of streets through Manhattan, from the Brooklyn Bridge, north to Park Avenue and the Upper East Side", New York Times: "Approximately 300,000 people enjoy the event each year, a city announcement said, and “everyone is invited to play, run, walk, and bike along Park Avenue and its connecting streets.”"
- ALT1: ... that in 2014 and 2015, art installations by artists Ryan McGinness and Stephen Powers were stolen in the matter of days during New York City's car-free Summer Streets initiative? Source: Wall Street Journal: "Ryan McGinness's Edgy Signs Were Stolen Almost as Soon as They Were Installed ... But just days after the signs went up, most had been stolen, the artist and transportation department officials said." Wall Street Journal: "For the second year running, all but a handful of the 30 signs, part of the city’s annual Summer Streets program, appeared to have been stolen."

- The article was newly created in mainspace on 18th December, having been moved from a sandbox, and was nominated on that date. No QPQ review required as this is the first self-nomination (one previous DYK credit was for an article edited by multiple editors). Length is fine at >700 words. Well-referenced to reliable and varied sources. I have checked each reference for factual accuracy and close paraphrasing/copyvio; no issues found. The hooks are interesting (as is the article subject) and compliant in other ways. A suitably licensed picture has been provided, but it is only really suitable for use with the first hook and would need to include something like (2023 event pictured) added to the end of the hook.
- Welcome to DYK Deansfa; this nomination has been verified and is ready. Hassocks5489 (Floreat Hova!) 22:54, 11 January 2024 (UTC)
