uninastaliq = "universal Nastaliq"
Usage
editThis template displays Perso-Arabic text in the Nastaliq style, which is used for most documents written in Urdu. The style is also used for Persian poetry and Shahmukhi Punjabi.
This template is based on the {{nastaliq|}} template Template:Script/Nastaliq. I made a new one instead of editing the original to avoid breaking existing uses of the original.
Differences compared to {{nastaliq|}} template:
- uninastaliq produces the same results for all languages, whereas {{nastaliq|}} prioritises fonts differently depending on the {{lang|xx|}} template.
- uninastaliq leads to fewer problems with Wikipedia:Template_limits#Post-expand_include_size because is it shorter than the {{nastaliq|}} template, mainly by removing the language-dependent font ranking.
- uninastaliq puts Noto Nastaliq Urdu first, whereas the {{nastaliq|}} version puts Urdu Typesetting first, which doesn't cope with tatweel and has some problems with other characters as well.
