The {{WikiProject Organized Labour}} project banner template should be added (not subst:ed) to the talk page of every article within the scope of the project. While the template does not require any additional parameters, it has a number of optional ones that add various extra features to the banner. The full syntax is as follows:

General parameters:
- class – a rating of the article's quality; see Wikipedia:WikiProject Organized Labour/Assessment for more details. Valid values are:
- FA – The article has reached Featured article status.
- A – Could be submitted as a Featured article candidate; probably could use some small updates to make it Featured quality.
- GA – The article has reached Good article status.
- B – Could be submitted as a Good article nominee; probably could use some updates or may lack some features from the Good article criteria, but it presents a good overview of the subject.
- C – The article is more than a start, but may lack some important aspects of the topic's discussion, or the necessary References to make it B class.
- Start – The article is more than a stub, but may lack some important aspects of the topic's discussion.
- Stub – The article is a stub; it likely contains one of the Trade union stub templates.
- Redirect – The article is a redirect page.
- Disambig – The article is a disambiguation page.
- Template – The article is a template.
- Category – The article is a category.
- Project – For projects.
- File – The article is a file (eg a jpg or svg etc).
- List – The article is a list.
- NA – The page is none of the above and should not be classed.
- importance – a rating of the article's importance; see Wikipedia:WikiProject Organized Labour/Assessment for more details. Valid values are:
- Top – Reserved for the primary articles on organized labour. These are considered fundamental to the topic.
- High – Major international articles, activists, strikes and movements. National trade union organizations.
- Mid – General labour articles, national articles, activists, strikes and movements, and main articles on trade unions.
- Low – Minor labour articles, national articles, activists, strikes and movements. Articles on trade union locals.
- NA – The item does not require a rating (use this in the case of lists, categories, templates, redirects and disambiguations).
- needs-infobox – set
