Edit Counts
editThe output for me has a higher number in the Edits field than in the Edits + Deleted field. Should the numbers not be reversed? Or should the second field be called Edits - Deleted? -Djsasso (talk) 17:20, 16 April 2008 (UTC)
What about non-admins?
editIs there a similar template for non-admins? If not, what are the system variables that produce these numbers? Thanks. --Cbdorsett (talk) 08:43, 27 November 2008 (UTC)
- I agree. Quite frankly, other than possible capacity issues, I'm not sure why this isn't open to every editor. If a user hasn't made any blocks (or other admin-only statistics) then the stats will just always show zero. ~ PaulT+/C 17:33, 10 September 2009 (UTC)
- Why would a non-admin even want to have this template? Other than your edit count, there would be nothing else to show. And if you just want to show your edit count, there are a ton of ways to show that (tools like SoxRed's and WikiChecker, and userboxes such as
{{User edits}}
). rʨanaɢ talk/contribs 20:28, 27 September 2009 (UTC)- Well there's also the amount of pages patrolled, deleted edits, page moves, etc... The Thing // Talk // Contribs 02:05, 3 May 2010 (UTC)

What about former admins?
editI get that for non-admins, the point is more-or less moot. However, in the case of former admins, it seems like there is no reason not to allow the use. Their actions are public record and all this does is sumarize them. The {{admin}}
command lists most of the actions. Why not summarize them? Toddst1 (talk) 21:35, 4 May 2016 (UTC)
- Actually, it's quite simpler than that. The bot blanks the adminstat page after the admin bit is relinquished. Why not just disable the blanking? Toddst1 (talk) 17:12, 5 May 2016 (UTC)
Bar graph?
editI thought it might be useful to be able to visualize admin stats in bar chart form (ie, to get an idea where you, or the person, does most of their admin work), and to that end I created User:Rjanag/adminbars/Rjanag (this is an example of what it would look like for me—although the numbers are made-up right now—for anyone else they would have their own subpage, just as there are currently subpages like Template:Adminstats/Rjanag). Would anyone be interested in having graphs like this added to, or used as an optional supplement for, the {{adminstats}} template? If anyone is interested, I can explain how it works and how we might be able to get it up and running for everyone (i think the easiest thing would be to add it the code of User:Rjanag/adminbars/core to Template:Adminstats/Core so that it can use the same numbers; then depending on what people want, it could be hidden in a {{show}} template, or whether or not it appears at all could be determined by the setting of some parameter). rʨanaɢ talk/contribs 06:49, 3 July 2009 (UTC)
- Also note: I collapsed things like "deletions and undeletions" into a big "deletions" category, and likewise with protects and unprotects, blocks and unblocks, etc. That doesn't need to be the case; if people would rather have the template show things like that separately, it would be easy to change. rʨanaɢ talk/contribs 06:51, 3 July 2009 (UTC)
- BTW, here is a list of all the admins who are using this template somewhere in their userspace. rʨanaɢ talk/contribs 06:57, 3 July 2009 (UTC)
- update Here is a mock-up of what I had in mind, making Template:Adminstats/Core show both stats and a chart. It seems to work nicely in my userspace, but there are still some accessibility problems...for example, for pages where the adminstats are within other templates, it may have problems (for example, if I try it at User:Seresin/Admin, who has it inside a {{show}} template, it gets all squished). Anyway, at least now you can see what I had in mind; I still have to work on ironing out the kinks. rʨanaɢ talk/contribs 21:14, 3 July 2009 (UTC)

Styles
editHow do I use the style? I have a style template I want to use at User:Phantomsteve/Adminstats/Style2 and change the final line of Template:Adminstats/Phantomsteve to read |style=User:Phantomsteve/Adminstats/Style2}} - but when the bot updated it, that line was changed back to the default - is there anyway to get it to keep the style I want, or do I have to change it every time the bot updates? -- PhantomSteve/talk|contribs\ 21:51, 11 March 2010 (UTC)

Which edit count
editWhy does this template's edit count differ so much from the edit count seen under User Preferences? Mine has a 750 edit difference currently (and I have only made a dozen edits today). Rmhermen (talk) 20:58, 25 March 2011 (UTC)
- I believe it's down to counting methods, and what counts as an edit. For example, a page move may count as one or two edits (the source page and target page). — Tivedshambo (t/c) 22:05, 25 March 2011 (UTC)
I found that subpage by accident, and since I'm no admin, I'm wondering it exists. The main page says that the bot won't update non-admins. Am I missing something? Just curious, Nolelover Talk·Contribs 07:55, 22 August 2011 (UTC)
- The page exists becuase it's transcluded on your user page, so the bot created it. I think the information about non-admins is out of date; though the template is of little use to non-admins as most fields will be zero.—An optimist on the run! 11:35, 22 August 2011 (UTC)

Merge templates
editI'm thinking about merging the functionality of Template:Adminbars into this template by adding it as a new style. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 14:34, 20 October 2011 (UTC)
- This now done and seems to be working well enough. I can't believe that people used to have to update their page regularly instead of using the bot-generated data. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 15:23, 20 October 2011 (UTC)
To dismiss this message, add the parameters disablenotice, and cookie and set it to true and 0 respectively.
editI happened to glance at my userpage and it suddenly had a message saying "To dismiss this message, add the parameters disablenotice, and cookie and set it to true and 0 respectively." I'm pretty sure I did that, [1] as it is messing up the formatting on my user page which I had to get help to set up in the first place, but the message is still there. what gives? Beeblebrox (talk) 22:03, 21 February 2013 (UTC)
- Looks like a bug. I'll look into right now. I'm currently trying to fix the script so as some aren't updating for some reason which I have yet to figure out why when they're being transcluded.—cyberpower ChatOnline 22:15, 21 February 2013 (UTC)

I propose..
editWould it be feasible to move this template to {{userstats}}? I propose this because this template would return only edit, deleted edits and usernames created for non-administrater editors using this template. This template would originally return the counts mentioned above until the template's owner programmed the template to generat an error message for non-admin users trying the temp. Therefore, I propose moving this template to Userstats and programming the template to display the admin functions for admins and only the edit stuff for regular users. –BuickCenturyDriver 05:40, 2 March 2013 (UTC)
- Considering that the template was only ever supposed to work for admins, probably not. That it worked for non-admins was a bug. Anomie⚔ 15:43, 2 March 2013 (UTC)
- Anomie, it actually works for non-admins because account creators have been allowed to have access to this. Except for one instance last year when the bot suddenly became aware of this, it has worked for the better part of a year for people with the right. Renaming it would definitely suddenly create a mass interest in this template, so I am unsure if that would even be a good idea at this time. Kevin Rutherford (talk) 19:59, 4 February 2014 (UTC)
Error?
editThe instructions say to use the template {{adminstats|USERNAME}}. Isn't that an error? Shouldn't it say {{adminstats/USERNAME}} ? --MelanieN (talk) 21:17, 9 March 2015 (UTC)
- Not really, the latter would display a redlink until the bot runs to create the subpage. Anomie⚔ 23:33, 10 March 2015 (UTC)
Heading code is out of date
editCurrently, if a user has done any renames, the template assumes that the user is a crat. That was fine prior to the introduction of global renamers, but now that assumption is invalid. There must be a way to query userrights to make that determination rather than looking at the rename stat. —DoRD (talk) 17:49, 2 March 2017 (UTC)

Stats for ex-admins
editShould we enable this template for ex-admins too? I have made more than 10,000 admin actions and this is not shown anymore. -- Magioladitis (talk) 11:00, 25 March 2018 (UTC)
- I think so. I understand the concern, though, so perhaps it could be coded so the header says Former admin statistics or something to that effect. This sort of came up in a recent conversation regarding subpages for nonsysops. I think the ideal solution would be for the bot to only create a page when the user is a sysop, and then once a page is created only update it if the user is still a sysop. That way it's sort of frozen in time, edit count and everything. ~ Amory (u • t • c) 21:14, 29 June 2018 (UTC)
