Styling
editAs Ballon d'Or is apparently French for Golden Ball, I've set the titlestyle background colo(u)r to 'gold'. Seems appropriate enough.

- I'd rather we didn't do this; the {{navbox}} documentation specifically says that the default styles should not be overridden without good reason, and we should be working to remove the number of football articles which do so - right now, football articles frequently have rainbow-like templates at the end because all the navboxen are given special colours. - The documentaion says Changing the default styles is not recommended, but is possible. I looked a little bit at the templates talk page but there seems to be nothing specifically about styles should not be overridden without good reason but I may have missed something. Can you provide a direct link ?
- Theatre templates seem to be much more varied in the their use of {{navbox}}.
- If the only objection to the colo(u)r is coming out of the documentation of {{navbox}} then we can stop using {{navbox}}. I'm sure we could construct a template that looked similar but wasn't tied to this template.

- That the template doc discourages it is a good thing in my opinion - it prevents people from treating navboxen like baubles to decorate as they please. They're meant to be simple navigation tools, that's all. I'm well aware that a good many templates ignore this, but that doesn't mean we should. Edit warring
editDue to disputes in the template over the 4 different awards of Ballon d'Or. I suggest that the template be as follows:
To end this edit warring. --186.145.98.162 (talk) 22:11, 18 December 2016 (UTC)
- Given that the other categories are these: {{FIFA World Player of the Year winners}}, {{FIFA Ballon d'Or recipients}} and {{The Best FIFA Football Awards}}. I suggest that the template {{Ballon d'Or winners}} is created to avoid confusion with the previous template... --186.145.98.162 (talk) 22:28, 18 December 2016 (UTC)
I'll try to explain in a easy way, we have:
- The Ballon d'Or (1956–2009) presented by France Football magazine
- FIFA World Player of the Year (1991–2009) presented by FIFA
The Ballon d'Or (1956–2009) ≠ FIFA World Player of the Year (1991–2009) (just compare the winners, e.g Ballon d'Or 2003 ≠ 2003 FIFA World Player of the Year ). In 2010 France Footbal and FIFA present The Fifa Ballon d'Or a merger between France Football's Ballon d'Or and the FIFA World Player of the Year, so:
- The Ballon d'Or (1956–2009) + FIFA World Player of the Year (1991–2009) = FIFA Ballon d'Or (2010–2015)
This year (2016) the partnership between France Football and FIFA had come to an end, so now we have back the "original" Ballon d'Or, and the new Best FIFA Football Awards (technically "heir" of the old FIFA World Player of the Year award).
- The Ballon d'Or (1956–2009,2016-) ≠ The Best FIFA Football Awards (2016-) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.58.111.223 (talk) 12:46, 20 December 2016 (UTC)

Ukrainian flag for Andriy Shevchenko
editShouldn't the Ukrainian flag for Andriy Shevchenko be the one used from 1992 to 2006 since he was awarded the Ballon d'Or in 2004 since other winners like Alfredo Di Stéfano and Michel Platini are represented with the flag of their nation at the time they won the award? I'm unsure what to type to switch it to the older Ukrainian flag as well. Raskuly (talk) 23:14, 28 October 2024 (UTC)
