Completeness

edit

To make this more complete, there should be Ones, Knights and Jokers. Furthermore a third parameter should be introduced to support four-color suits with diamonds either being yellow (skat), blue (poker) or standard red, spades being green (skat), blue or standard black and clubs being green (poker), blue or standard black. Finally the Major Arcana trumps could be added. — Christoph Päper 07:48, 15 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

I think a separate Tarot Nouveau template would be good for card game articles, and maybe a Rider–Waite Tarot for divination articles. But I think this template is pretty sufficient for most use-cases. The biggest missing piece to me is there's no way to display a card back. We have a {{German suited card}} template that would be good for skat. 72.216.186.113 (talk) 10:18, 24 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
I added a card back. 72.216.186.113 (talk) 23:20, 24 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
Could you add some Tarot cards? At least Visconti-Sforza Tarot, possibly there are others on COMMONS

I started the {{Tarot}} template with the Rider-Waite pattern. It looks like the Viscounti-Sforza is missing 4 cards: commons:Category:Pierpont Morgan-Bergamo Visconti-Sforza Tarot. Do you have any suggestions how you'll want this handled? 72.216.186.113 (talk) 05:12, 19 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

11 of Hearts?

edit

Why is there rank values of 11? These do not show up in the standard deck. While I realize that the placement code could easily put an extra symbol in, I do not know of any printed decks that actually use it. The one on a Bugs Bunny cartoon does not count! Translation

edit

How can I use this for the Dutch wikipedia. It doesn't work. — Preceding unsigned comment added by ColourMC (talkcontribs) 20:18, 18 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

Examples

edit

I don’t like how it shows all 54 cards as the examples. I edited the documentation to show only the two of diamonds as the sole example, but my edit was reverted. Is it OK to include only about 1-5 cards as examples? (Two of diamonds, six of spades, and queen of hearts would be good) 2601:C6:D281:6710:E476:F21E:166A:1313 (talk) 05:01, 25 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

when writing docs, you have to assume "everyone's an idiot." 72.216.186.113 (talk) 10:29, 24 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
Definitely helpful to be able to see the full deck so that the user can make an informed decision about which pattern to use for an example. Thanks for all your work updating this template recently, 72.216! Belbury (talk) 15:49, 28 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

Support for other patterns

edit

I think this can be made more dynamic by using {{CSS image crop}} on different files based on a "pattern" variable:

  • English (default) > File:English pattern playing cards deck PLUS.svg
  • Russian > File:Atlasnye playing cards deck.svg
  • Italian > File:Carte bresciane al completo.svg
  • French > File:Svg-cards-2.0.svg
  • German > File:Complete Saxonian deck.jpg (needs conversion to svg)
  • Spanish > File:Baraja española.svg (file needs to be fixed)

it'll be quite a bit of work though to get all the numbers correct :/ 72.216.186.113 (talk) 18:23, 26 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

I added the French pattern to the template as an example. (Sorry, there's no sandbox page) 72.216.186.113 (talk) 21:31, 26 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
I added support for all the patterns except Spanish. I'll have to think about how to work with a broken file... 72.216.186.113 (talk) 22:52, 26 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
I found some pngs. It's not as ideal as svg, but it works 72.216.186.113 (talk) 23:32, 26 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
