On the use of the state flag and replacement with army flag, naval jack and racing stripe

Norwegian Army Flag |
I'm writing this partly as a description and partly as an edit request. I don't anticipate objections, but that doesn't mean there can't be. Just to be safe I've set it on a timer. (At least I think it should work.)
Currently the army
alias displays the correct, official War flag. However, the army has its own unique flag. Judging by Template:Army the plain army-alias flag should be replaced, and the war flag should be listed as the war variant of the army/Norwegian flag.
Change |flag alias-army = Flag of Norway, state.svg
to
|flag alias-army = Flag of the Norwegian Army.svg
And add|flag alias-war = Flag of Norway, state.svg
|link alias-war = Norwegian Armed Forces
|border-war =
And |var6 = war
And |redir2 = NO
|redir3 = Norge
The flag aliases naval
, navy
and coast guard
are all currently using the naval ensign, which in this case is the same as the state flag. I haven't found any official unique flags for the Royal Norwegian Navy, or the Norwegian Coast Guard. However, according to WikiProject Flag Template (which also has a relevant discussion), either naval
or navy
(it's difficult to tell) can be declared with the naval jack in this case. As I can't make sense of which one to change, I hope the template editor knows which one should be the naval ensign and which one should be the naval jack.
Change |flag alias-navy = Flag of Norway, state.svg
or |flag alias-naval = Flag of Norway, state.svg
to Naval Jack of Norway.svg
And finally, changing the coast guard file from the naval ensign to their racing stripe.
Change |flag alias-coast guard = Flag of Norway, state.svg
to |flag alias-coast guard = Norwegian Coast Guard Racing Stripe.svg

Edited to fix two image links and to ping Paine Ellsworth, as I'm not sure my automated attempt has been listed properly. BucketOfSquirrels (talk) 13:42, 3 April 2023 (UTC)
- To editor BucketOfSquirrels: it does appear that your edit request has been listed properly in the category. After working with these CD templates for a long time, I've found that more often than not, the Naval and Navy flags are the same; however, sometimes when there is a Naval jack, it is used with the Naval template. So we can try that and see how it "flies". Thank you so much for your edits! P.I. Ellsworth , ed. put'er there 08:54, 5 April 2023 (UTC)
- To editor BucketOfSquirrels: was unable to add the NO redirect, because it is already in use for another CD template, Northern Ontario. All your other edits have been added. P.I. Ellsworth , ed. put'er there 09:21, 5 April 2023 (UTC)
