Template talk:Deletable file
Deletion date added to image caption code
editI've added a bit of code to include the deletion date in the tag meant to be copied into image captions (for example, {{deletable image-caption|Monday, 1 June 2009}}
). I tested it a little bit at User:Bkell/Deletable image test, User:Bkell/Di-replaceable fair use test, and User:Bkell/Sandbox, so I think it works properly. —Bkell (talk) 05:58, 25 May 2009 (UTC)

Would someone be able to do the following things:
- Change the wording from "This image or media" to "This file". This is easier than the "or" sentence and sounds nicer (FYI, Images and media for deletion has also been remaned to Files for deletion)
- Move the template to "Deletable file", as .ogg and .pdf files might also use the template and the term "image" doesn't fit there.
- Thank you. --The Evil IP address (talk) 11:14, 21 March 2010 (UTC)

I am requesting here that the ''Administrators: {{{for administrators}}}''
be wrapped in <span class="sysop-show"></span>
to hide the administrator instructions for non-admins. Pppery (talk) 02:04, 22 August 2016 (UTC)

Help section appears to be "broken" (but still technically functional), which results in the same "error" cascaded to other templates. Specifically, the first parameter in the provided template is left blank, instead of being removed altogether if not supplied. This may not have been previously visible, as {{Tlx}} was recently updated; please see Special:PageHistory/Template:Template link expanded.
Here is the problematic part:
<small>Usage: {{tlx|{{{template<noinclude>|di-foo</noinclude>}}}|{{#if:{{{source|}}}|source={{{source}}}}} |date={{#time:j ...
Based on my testing, this appears to work (diff on sandbox):
<small>Usage: {{tlx|{{{template<noinclude>|di-foo</noinclude>}}}|{{#if:{{{source|}}}|source={{{source}}}{{!}}}}date={{#time:j ...
Please double-check though for possible errors before actually implementing the correction. Thanks. Ntx61 (talk) 16:48, 9 January 2021 (UTC)
- Not done for now: I don't understand what the issue is, could you please clarify? Elliot321 (talk | contribs) 00:27, 20 January 2021 (UTC)
@Elliot321:The usage in the help has the pipe separator doubled instead of just one. I will be placing {{Di-orphaned fair use}} here as an example (which uses {{Deletable image}}, which in turn is redirected to {{Deletable file}}):
This file is unlicensed for use on Wikipedia and allowed only under a claim of non-free use per Wikipedia:Non-free content, but it is not used in any articles. Unless some reason to retain it is given, the file will be deleted after Thursday, 8 January 1970. Please remove this template if a reason for keeping this image has been provided, or it is still used in articles.Administrators: delete this file after confirming it is not in use. Usage: {{di-orphaned non-free use|date=2 December 2024|replacement=replacement image}} For non-replaced images: {{di-orphaned non-free use|date=1 January 1970}} Notify the uploader with: {{subst:di-orphaned non-free use-notice|1=Deletable file}} ~~~~ |
- Other examples like {{Di-replaceable fair use}}:
This file may fail Wikipedia's first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a free image might reasonably be found or created that adequately provides the same information, or which could be adequately covered with text alone. Unless it is determined to be irreplaceable, the file will be deleted after Saturday, 3 January 1970. Please do not remove this tag.Note : if you believe that a free replacement image cannot be reasonably found or created please add one of the following without removing this tag: {{di-replaceable non-free use disputed|Your reason that a free replacement can not be found or created}} Administrators: Ensure the claim of replaceability is sound and not legitimately disputed before deleting this file. Usage: {{di-replaceable non-free use|date=2 December 2024}} Notify the uploader with: {{subst:di-replaceable non-free use-notice|1=Deletable file}} ~~~~Add the following to the image captions: {{Deletable file-caption|Saturday, 3 January 1970|F7}} |

This file is claimed to be used under Wikipedia's policy for non-free content but has no explanation as to why it is permitted under the policy. Non-free images need a rationale each time they are used in an article. A rationale must be included on this image description page. Unless at least one rationale is provided, the file will be deleted after Thursday, 8 January 1970. Please remove this template if a rationale is provided.Note that the boilerplate copyright tags do not by themselves constitute a rationale. Administrators: delete this file. - @Elli: Resending mention, I did not thought that it won't be sent due to the user not being found (as the user page was simply redirected). Ntx61 (talk) 04:29, 6 November 2021 (UTC)
