Not working
editThese links do not seem to work. --Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 22:41, 13 August 2011 (UTC)
- They do seem to map to archive.org links in 2009, e.g. hemoglobinopathy archived 2009-06-16. There are under 1000 transclusions, I expect a semi-automated edit tool could fix them. LeadSongDog come howl! 07:23, 14 November 2011 (UTC)
- However, not all of the referenced archive.org links are productive; for instance brainstem, used in the Brainstem article, presents a 404-error (page not found) as the archived page. A better choice might be to direct to the Free Dictionary, the Medical Dictionary component, which includes a version of Dorland's as a source (indicating the sourcing on each definition); see, for instance, the brainstem entry. --User:Ceyockey (talk to me) 01:48, 2 December 2013 (UTC)
- Should we mark them as dead links when we encounter them? thefreedictionary.com doesn't use the same url scheme, from the first parameter, but could the template be edited to use the second parameter with thefreedictionary.com? Ordinary reader (talk) 02:34, 24 January 2014 (UTC)
- The template was edited to use web.archive.org -[1] but it is still broken. I checked several and many are 404 or 302. I tried changing it to include both the archive and the free dictionary, but I couldn't get it right. Can templates be edited in sandbox versions? My first guess at a fix
