The result of the move request was: moved as requested per the discussion below. Dekimasuよ! 17:11, 19 July 2018 (UTC)
- Template:Incumbent Pope → Template:Incumbent pope
- Template:Incumbent Pope 2 → Template:Incumbent pope 2
– The title of "pope" is not capitalised, per the Pope article and per MOS:JOBTITLES. These templates were previously moved from the new titles to the current titles without proper rationale. RAVENPVFF | talk ~ 04:43, 10 July 2018 (UTC)
- Support: This shouldn't be capitalized as a common noun, just when used as a title in front of a person's name, or in a reference to the office as such "John Paul II became Pope in 1978", but "John Paul II was the only pope from Poland". It's the same as "Trump was elected President of the United States" but "Trump has been one of the most controversial American presidents". Thus, "Trump's controversy as an incumbent president casts his re-election in 2020 into doubt". There is also a WP:CONSISTENCY matter: Incumbent ambassadors of Cambodia and List of 1981 Canadian incumbents, etc., are correctly named, but Incumbent Ambassadors to the United States and Incumbent Ambassadors to Bulgaria need to move; this is the same as the Lord Mayor of London, etc., versus List of lord mayors of London, etc., titles; we moved all the latter sort to lower case because when something is pluralized in this manner it's a common-noun phrase. — SMcCandlish ☏ ¢ 😼 02:00, 12 July 2018 (UTC)

Incumbent Pope 2
editWhy does the syntax for this exist? “Head” is a misleading term. On earth yes, but not on heaven. I refer to this discussion Talk:Catholic Church#Head field in infobox. I suggest refer removal of this syntax unless other uses can be shown.Manabimasu (talk) 17:30, 26 May 2019 (UTC)

Remove “Incumbent Pope 2” syntax. I refer to this discussion Talk:Catholic Church#Head field in infobox on the reason “Head” is misleading. Manabimasu (talk) 17:55, 26 May 2019 (UTC)
- Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. The current content of the template is:
[[Pope Francis|Francis]]<noinclude> {{documentation}} </noinclude>
What would you like removed? DannyS712 (talk) 18:25, 26 May 2019 (UTC)
- Change Incumbent Pope 2 syntax to nothing.Manabimasu (talk) 12:29, 27 May 2019 (UTC)
- Nevermind, I am doing the wrong process. Don’t change anything.Manabimasu (talk) 12:48, 27 May 2019 (UTC)
- @Manabimasu: If you just want the infobox in the Examples section changed, you could do it yourself, as the documentation subpage is not protected. {{Incumbent pope 2}} is still useful in places like Template:College of Cardinals, so it shouldn't be deleted outright. — RAVENPVFF · talk · 12:50, 27 May 2019 (UTC)
- ok, Incumbent Pope 2 is fine. I wanted to change the infobox “Head” field which was misleading. Thanks for telling me.Manabimasu (talk) 12:59, 27 May 2019 (UTC)

Add {{subst:tfd}}
to the top of Template:Incumbent pope 2. Manabimasu (talk) 12:54, 27 May 2019 (UTC)
or add {{subst:tfd|type=sidebar}} To the top of Template:Incumbent pope 2.Manabimasu (talk) 12:55, 27 May 2019 (UTC)
Don’t do any of the changes. I did not see User:Ravenpuff comment.Manabimasu (talk) 12:57, 27 May 2019 (UTC)
- Not done: as above, this template isn't going to be deleted. What other changes would you like to see be made to the template itself? — RAVENPVFF · talk · 14:02, 27 May 2019 (UTC)
Incumbent pope 2
editLabel 2 can have many titles. I propose that the documentation(Template:Incumbent pope 2/doc) link to Pope#Titles as possible label2 values.Manabimasu (talk) 15:16, 27 May 2019 (UTC)
Documentation
editIs there a reason why Template:Incumbent Pope/doc and Template:Incumbent Pope 2/doc is the same? If not, I suggest both be changed to fit what the document is named after. Incumbent Pope 2 only documents the syntax and usage of
{{Incumbent Pope 2}}
and likewise for
{{Incumbent Pope}}

- Simply to allow users to compare both templates simultaneously, which is useful because both templates have similar functions. — RAVENPVFF · talk · 00:35, 28 May 2019 (UTC)
- Would it not be easier to merge both or redirect one of the documentation to the other? Manabimasu (talk) 00:51, 28 May 2019 (UTC)
- The two documentation pages are not exactly the same. More specifically, the Usage section provides information specific to the template in question. — RAVENPVFF · talk · 00:58, 28 May 2019 (UTC)
