Infobox title

I think the title of the infobox should be what is defined in the template as Name. This would fix issues such as at Kevin Conway (NASCAR driver) where the disambiguation is in the title of the infobox. That appears to be how the generalized {{infobox person}} works. Thanks. It's a bit of a kludge, but specifying "name = & nbsp;" (but without the space between the '&' and the 'n') displays a blank line at the top of the infobox instead of the name. A better solution would be to change the template so that it only displays the name if the "name" parameter is specified (a fairly simple change). But before doing that, someone would need to go through all the articles which transclude the template and ensure that the "name" parameter is populated (except the articles where you don't want the name to appear, of course). Maybe a 'Hide name =' parameter, where 'y' or 'yes' hides it but anything else (including leaving it blank or not including it at all) displays it, might work? Also - to clarify, if the 'Awards' paramater in the box on the page I mentioned wasn't filled in, the name would be blank as it stands. - The Bushranger _{One ping only} 22:35, 27 October 2011 (UTC)

A "hide name" parameter should be doable, if somewhat non-standard. I guess it's a tradeoff of consistency with other infoboxes (and elegance?) versus effort. • Hm, seems this was never implemented...would changing 'aboveclass' to just 'fn' modify it so that the 'name=' paramater would be skipped if left blank? (Since infobox racing driver has 'aboveclass' that way and works in that fashion). Common name as infobox title

While according to Template:Infobox NASCAR driver#Parameters the name parameter demands the full name be entered, The Bushranger has pointed to the fact that the infobox header standardly matches the page title (see Bill Clinton, for example).--Fluidfellow (talk) 16:20, 15 November 2013 (UTC)

I added |birth_name=, but have no real opinion concerning how full the full name is in the title. Frietjes (talk) 18:21, 15 November 2013 (UTC)

The first note of the "Parameter" section still reads "Should be full name (when known)" but the infobox header in the Richard Petty example is in accordance with Template:Infobox person, which says "use common name/article title."--Fluidfellow (talk) 03:08, 11 August 2018 (UTC)

Xfinity/Nationwide/Busch series season links?

I'm not really up to speed as to how Infobox templates work under the covers, but noticed an issue affecting Jeff Gordon which led me to look at this template. When this Infobox is used at Jeff Gordon, there's a red link to 2000_NASCAR_Nationwide_Series, which is from the Infobox entry "Prev_Busch_Year = 2000". Does "Prev_Busch_Year" always go to YYYY_NASCAR_Nationwide_Series (regardless of the actual years when it was Busch vs. Nationwide vs. Xfinity) because header10 lists "Series = NASCAR Nationwide Series"? If so, I guess the only way to fix the red link is to create a new 2000_NASCAR_Nationwide_Series page which redirects to 2000_NASCAR_Busch_Series? Or is there a way that this template can be smart enough to go to Busch/Nationwide/Xfinity for the appropriate years? Gmporr (talk) 01:45, 24 November 2015 (UTC)

As far as I know that would be the simplest way because the only other way I would know how to fix it would be to add a {{{Series|}}} parameter. However, you would have to update every article that uses the template. – Nascar1996 ^{(talk • cont)} 01:53, 24 November 2015 (UTC)
