Killed/fatalities
editI changed the text "Number of fatalities caused" to "Humans killed" as that's shorter and clearer ("fatalities" is not necessarily human). We're not civil servants and these aren't real deaths, so we don't need to be so sensitive. Barsoomian (talk) 14:29, 10 August 2010 (UTC)
name
editRe deleting "name" parameter:
"Name" might be redundant, but it seems to be customary in every infobox of every type. Also they can be links to other articles (often for the real creature). Barsoomian (talk) 08:24, 28 May 2011 (UTC)
- Actually, it's the infobox title that is in every type of infobox, but that's very clearly unnecessary here because the infobox is used only in List of creatures in Primeval. Other than that, content in infoboxes is completely variable. Any linking is more easily handled in the prose, where it is noticeably absent from nay entries at the moment for some peculiar reason, despite convention. The aim here was to minimise the undesirable excess of whitespace that exists. Since each use of the infobox is within the actual section that the infobox refers to, there simply no need to restate the name in the infobox. It just contributes to undesirable whitepsace. --AussieLegend (talk) 08:38, 28 May 2011 (UTC)
The connection to the subsection heading is discernible, but you have to track across to be sure you're looking at the right one if you abbreviate it -- this actually becomes less clear if you reduce the whitespace and the headings. There may be some other infoboxes without titles, I haven't noticed them. But quite a few creatures have an article linked, and the title is the perfect place to do that, I've done several. As for reducing whitespace; it's not excessive. The page is several screens long regardless. An infobox serves as a digest of the important facts about the creature, the most important being its name. Barsoomian (talk) 08:56, 28 May 2011 (UTC)
- I really don't see the "you have to track across to be sure" issue that you mention. Regarding titles, from your post it seems that you're mixing "title" and "name" while these are two different things. The title of this infobox is "Primeval creature", which is obviously unnecessary. The "
|name=
" field should actually display at the top of the infobox, above the image, but it is actually shown where a sub-section heading would be. (see Law Courts of Brussels or Primeval). Regardless, it's still redundant. Linking is really a secondary issue. All of the entries now have links in the prose and the links in the infobox should be to the species. The important content in the infobox is everything except the name. --AussieLegend (talk) 09:32, 28 May 2011 (UTC)
