display globe in infobox

edit

In response to a request at Template talk:Infobox Mercury crater, I'd like to change this infobox to display the globe parameter (if supplied). This should help make clear which planet, dwarf planet, or natural satellite the crater is located on, in case it's not clear from the context. --Stepheng3 (talk) 23:56, 23 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

I've prototyped the changes in a new sandbox. I created a testcases subpage as well. --Stepheng3 (talk) 02:10, 24 March 2010 (UTC)Reply
I installed the changes in the live template and updated the documentation. --Stepheng3 (talk) 21:53, 25 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Colongitude?

edit

Colongitude is a parameter that is specific to near side lunar craters. Is there any possibility of getting that parameter included so that we can transclude the resulting template into {{Infobox Lunar crater}}? Thank you. Regards, RJH (talk) 20:07, 22 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Template:Infobox crater dataTemplate:Infobox crater – I guess I don't have any other argument than... why not? Template:Infobox crater redirects here, and there are no other templates with a "Template:Infobox crater x" prefix, so I don't see the need to disambiguate. – PhilipTerryGraham (talk · articles · reviews) 03:33, 28 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

Support the move. --Jeonghyeonseo (talk) 11:11, 28 February 2019 (UTC)Blocked sock. Dekimasuよ! 05:38, 7 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

This is not the same 'Infobox crater' that was TfD'ed in 2010

edit

In case of confusion... This is not the same as the 'Infobox crater' template which was TfD'ed in March 2010]. This one was renamed on top of the old name in March 2019. The old one was removed because it caused confusion by attempting to cover lots of different types of craters: impact, volcanic, nuclear, sinkholes, etc. After editors meticulously moved every usage to more specific infoboxes, the template was removed and its related categories were renamed to indicate their specific types. This infobox is about impact craters on celestial bodies other than the Earth and the Moon. Ikluft (talk) 05:44, 8 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

Infobox crater

edit
  Moved from WP:VPR

The present Template:Infobox crater misses some necessary parameters already available and implemented in the Template:Infobox terrestrial impact site, namely:

Field Description
other_name Previous or alternative name(s).
location Name of the location of the celestial body, if any.
translation The English translation, if latin or other language etymology of the name of the object or its eponym may suppose it (e.g. vallis - valley etc.).
pronunciation Link to the *.ogg file at Commons and/or transcription if nesessary.

Parameter location must supplement the existing quadrangle parameter. Example:

|quadrangle = Syrtis Major quadrangle MC-13
|location = Huo Hsing Vallis

I kindly ask technicians to expand this infobox. Thank you. Cherurbino (talk) 11:22, 24 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
